Which metal for an intricate ring? - November 23rd 2011, 05:27 AM

In the process of having a ring made with similar detail to Tacori's crescent design. My jeweler suggested 14kt white gold instead of 18kt white gold stating that since 18kt is purer that 14kt it would have the tendancy to chip or break in the small detailed areas. What is your opinion? For a similar reason Im deciding against platinum to avoid possibly crushing an arch/crescent in the thin areas of the band. But I do like Platinums look -I have a cheap belly button rings.

I would go with what your piercer recommends since they know you so they will be able to give you the best suggestion. What piercing exactly is this ring for? Does it have to be white gold?
