Overkill?

So, my parents are LAME and won't let me get any piercings (besides my ears) or tattoos. But, once I'm 18, I'm getting some. I was thinking of getting something tattooed on my wrist(s), getting a bar in my ear, doing my tongue, and my bellybutton. One of my friends told me I was over-doing it, since I'll also be dying my hair around that time. She said it'll make me "too different." I dunno though. Do you guys think it's too much?? Lemme know!

I think it's a lot to do at once seeing as it's going to cost you an arm and a leg to do all of that. But in my opinion, it's what YOU want to do with your body. No one else has any say so if you think it'll look good, which I think it will , then it will. Just wear it with confidence.

Hahah, I wouldn't do it all at once! I don't have that kind of money. But, it's kind of what I'm planning on doing eventually.

Change can be refreshing, especially in that of appearance, which you generally control. I had my ears pierced, hair cut in a new style, and braces put on all in a few days (I know it's not nearly as much as you listed, but it's the most I've had at once that I can recall). The different looks of the others helped me endure the pain from the braces by distracting me and making me feel better. In short, that wasn’t “too much”, it was actually better. Are you worried about all of it being too much for you or too much for other people? Other people will get used to it, although perhaps gradually, and I think you will, too.

For me, that would be a lot, but I don't think it would be “too much”, either. If one of my friends wants to get a piercing or dye his or her hair, I'd tell him or her to go for it (as long as he or she has thought it through and truly wants the change). I'd try to space your many appearance-altering appointments out, though, and not have them so close together. Some piercings take a while to recuperate from, and therefore it may not be wise to have them "all at once", or around the same time. If you can handle all of it (and know you want all of it for good reasons), though, I don't think you should hold yourself back. : )

Honestly, I'm not even sure I'll go through with all of them. But, those are the things I'm considering right now. I know I'm dying my hair, for sure. I know I'm getting the tattoo, for sure. The rest are up in the air, at the moment. Also, I have a specific reason for wanting all the changes. I'm so tired of my life here, and I want to leave all of it behind ASAP. For me, that includes making changes to my appearance. It'll be like a new Sam. Is that stupid, though?

Over time, I don't think that's bad at all. All at once might be overkill, and I'd be like "where the HELL do you get this money?!" But over time? No biggie. If that was overkill, I'm definitely overkilling it!

I don't think that's stupid. It sounds like you have good reasons for wanting to change your appearance; it'll stand as further evidence for you that you and your life are moving in a new direction.

Are you kidding?! There's no way I could get them all done in one day. Hahah. I have a high tolerance for pain, but it's still not THAT high.
