Finished Baby Blanket (Pictures!) - April 5th 2009, 04:10 AM

I started working on this blanket a while ago. At first, I had no one to give it to. I thought it was cute and I wanted to make it, so I did. After finding out that my aunt is pregnant with a boy I decided that it will be given to her baby.

This is a shot of the entire blanket.

And here it is up close, so you can see the sailboats. I can't wait to give it to my aunt.

Thank you.

I can't wait until I'm old enough to mail stuff without my parents knowing. Lots of people will probably get blankets. Like good ole Jessie. :-)

Weirdly, my mother just finished a blanket for my nephew...which looks strangely like that. Are you sharing knitting patterns?
But you're talented Amanda, it's very lovely.

You once agreed to make me a scarf which I'm still holding you too. Just thought I'd remind you

I love your knitting posts Manda-Kate, even if they end up making me feel a tad jealous at your 'mazin skills!
It looks good and I'm sure your Aunt is going to love it

It looks fantastic, Amanda. I can't imagine how long it must of took to do it, there's a lot of detail there. I used to knit and made a scarf once, but I haven't done any more knitting after that. I might start doing it again- it's a good hobby and distraction, I think. What a lovely gift to give to your aunt, and I'm sure she will love it.

Aw, thats amazing! I love it. I wish you could make a blanket for my baby ... lol. I would love something so precious like that! I am glad that your aunt is pregnant and you actually have someone to give it too. Lol, maybe you had some ESP on that note.

She showed us ultra sound pictures. I saw the usual head and feet, then I got to one and I asked my mother, "What in the heck is this?" She said, "It is his stuff." I said, "OH MY GOD IT'S HUGE!!!" It was his leg. However, it definitely is a boy based on the pictures.

Since I've learned to knit, everyone I know has gotten pregnant. It's a good thing I love testing stuff out for babies. It's always good to hear from another woman that she would like something like that. I am a member of a huge knitting forum and I often hear horror stories about gifts. :-/

That is so upsetting. I think simple gifts are great, I mean, not that knitting the blanket was simple; but it means you took effort and time to make something for someone elses child/family. I think it is a very honorable gift. And people who can't appreciate gifts like that are just too materialistic, in my opinion.

I agree with you completely. If you want to hear more, I'll be happy to share some horror stories with you via PM/VM about things that weren't in the right color or someone did not like the choice of yarn. *shakes head*
