Sweet, good job.
Are you going to stay in the USA or go to another country?

I'm staying in the US, the reason they call it International is because it's a worldwide program.

Yeah, congrats

I went to an IB school my freshman year.
I had problems with my foreign language (German, specifically) teacher not teaching.
Watch out for that because you'll still be expected to take the AP-IB exams.

Re: International Baccalaureate School!!! - June 15th 2009, 02:55 AM

i just finished my first year of the IB program, i'm in the US too. It was so hard.

Have you done the MYP program? because i did that before i did IB and that was really easy, then IB is like hitting a brick wall. It's very difficult, at least for me it was, it was the first time i ever failed a test/exam, and the first time i ever got a C on my report card.

However congrats on your entrance. I really wish you the best of luck. IB teachers prepare you well, and the syllabi are great because they go right along with what you should know for your IB exams.

Anyways, once again good luck, if you get frustrated with anything just let me know and you can PM me anytime. =)

(i'll be finishing up the IB diploma program next year. grade 12)

Thanks for the warnings everyone!

I'll try to do well,
the only thing I'm concerned about is that I signed up for JROTC at my original high school.

Does the IB school have JROTC as well?

Not as far as I know :/ I went to the one in Alabama. So, it may be different?

Re: International Baccalaureate School!!! - June 16th 2009, 06:44 PM

it depends i suppose. at my school, IB is considered an acedemy, so we have 7 classes over all, 6 of those 7 are IB classes and that leaves me with one elective, so i took ROTC my first three years of highschool, however, next year being my last I have still 6 of 7 IB classes but i am now eligible to take AP Physics so i'm using that as my elective for next year instead of ROTC, i just can't fit it into my schedule.

So like i said it all depends on the school type. Considering your school is all just IB, I think it would be safe to assume that you will have all IB classes, thus no ROTC.

Congrats, Carey! That's awesome news that you got into an IB school, I can imagine it's not easy to get in one. I'm sure you're feeling proud of yourself and your efforts. It seems like all your hard work has paid off in the end.

Once again it depends on the school. we have sports at my school for IB. It would be wise to google more info about your future school. You could also talk to guidance there, they could tell you everything you need to know. =)

Re: International Baccalaureate School!!! - June 20th 2009, 02:36 AM

Congrats. I graduated from the IB programme, and I loved it. I've always wondered if it would've been better at an all IB school though - I went to a public school that gave non-IB classes too, and there was SO much animosity between the IBs and the non-IBs. Our graduation dance was ridiculous, it was literally like one side of the dance floor IBs were dancing, a large space, and then the non-IBs dancing on the other side.

Not around so much now that school's started

then they will not care how devout you have been,
but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by.
If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them.
If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life
that will live on in the memories of your loved ones."

hmm, well I have no idea what to tell you i'm sorry. I guess you'll find out your first day eh?

anyways, you'll love IB, it's tough but so worth it. It's just amazing, and it's great because you'll be with people like you. It's for like the people who don't fit anywhere else (that's what my IB classmates concluded) We are the weirdest kids you'll ever meet, but it's okay to be weird in our classes because everyone else is weird. does that make sense? idk

but anywho, when's your first day?
