School and Hurricane Irene -

I got my haircut today for school and I really love it!
 It's short. We were supposed to start school on the 29th but we're getting a hurricane so it was canceled. xD That's hilarious. I guess the bad side is that now we'll probably have to to school for a day longer (on top of any snow days we'll get this year), but I've never had school closed for a hurricane before, and I'm kinda excited to get Irene.

I live in Florida & I like hurricanes
 But usually the power goes out... no computer,usually no phone & unless you have a gas stove... NO STOVE!  But I like them...

It's only going to be around a category 1, but just in case the power goes out, I'm going to charge my phone and its extra battery, and my iPod so I can get radio updates. How bad of damage do you think we'll get? I don't live by the shore, but I feel bad for the people by it. Irene's coming around high tide! Any chance of a leaky roof?

It's only going to be a Category 1 when it hits New Jersey, and won't even be a hurricane by time it hits me in north New Jersey. Though a tropical storm with winds of 60-80 MPH should be interesting.
Considering that you're in Connecticut, I don't think there will be that bad of damage, most likely just flooding, possible power outages, and fallen trees. And it would depend on your roof condition.  Stay safe!

I'm not too worried about my roof. We just got a new one a few months ago. I was just wondering about my school's. I go to a trade school and am in the shop with nothing but computers, so it could turn out bad. xD I'm kind of excited. I'm gonna stand on the porch to feel how strong the wind is unless it's too windy.

You're so lucky! My High School starts the second week of September but it's my first year of college so even though I got out super late (the last week of June) I still have to go to the first day of college on the 29th... so nervous! hahaha
