Suffice it to say with being rejected for every training contract I applied for (legal apprenticeship basically) I was feeling a bit low and needed a pick-me-up. Today was that pick-me-up.
 For those who don't know me so well, I'm really into motor racing - it's probably my single biggest passion and I follow a lot of categories - but have never had much chance to race myself, so I've done a few track days and so on. For my birthday last year my parents bought me a voucher to do another one, driving a BMW M3 at Oulton Park (which is my nearest circuit and one of the best in my book), and I finally got it booked and went. Put simply, it was awesome.  Felt a bit guilty as I was overtaking quite a few people despite it not being a race (the instructor was telling me to do this, I hasten to add), but otherwise it felt really good to be back behind the wheel on track and pressing on. The feedback I got was really good too, and after that I got to go on so-called "hot laps" where the instructors drive the cars and show what they're REALLY capable of. One was in the M3, the other was in a proper race car they'd brought down - both of them were ace. All in all, couldn't have asked for much more - well, except maybe a contract to race but you can't have everything!  So yeah, really happy after all that.
