... and it went quite well!
![]() Griffyn and I met the psychiatrist (I was allowed bringing Griff in with me), and the psych was very nice. We discussed the concerns I had, different symptoms, etc. Basically, what ended up being decided on there was: It's still official that I have BPD and Anxiety, and the psychiatrist believes that there is still valid reason to believe I have Bipolar Disorder because of the symptoms I've had. However, a diagnosis can't officially be made until I'm evaluated while in a Manic or Hypomanic Episode. The psychiatrist said that because of where I live, he can't regularly see me. Despite that, he printed me off a couple pages listing psychiatrists in my area for me to contact. He also mentioned that he thinks I should go on an anti-anxiety/anti-depression medication, but some can cause Manic episodes in Bipolar patients. So, I told him I want to wait until I have a regular psych before I start that, so then if I do have a Manic episode, I'd have a doctor who is familiar with me enough to be able to identify it as such, I figure may as well try the one with a risk, so we can figure out sooner whether I do have Bipolar Disorder or not. Nonetheless, I got some contacts for my area, and the doctor was really nice. He's going to write a note to my doctor, suggesting to switch me from Lorazepam to Clonazepam (aka switching from Ativan to Klonopin) for my anxiety, at least until I get a regular psych and go on a different medication. Also, he suggested a book for me to order to do DBT at home with Griffyn, and updating with a regular psychiatrist, rather than doing group sessions (since I don't like groups). Overall, it was a fairly productive appointment.
