Ok, so lately I have been seeing people my age wearing more and more clothes that make you look like a walking bill board and, although I never were bill boards myself, I've noticed that the clothes these people wear are making them seem " cool". So I have gone through some of my clothes and cut out the labels! After that I cut them up into little peices then throw them out! It's to represent that I will not be labeled for what I wear, but for who I am. I think I'm going to call it the " You Can't Label Me Project"
What to you guys think? |

I think it sounds like an ok idea because I think it's fine to not want to be a "walking billboard" but cutting up and throwing away your shirts might be a little too much. It would be a better idea to just sell or not wear those shirts. Overall it sounds pretty good and I think you can get other people to follow you doing this. I would do this too mabye, but about 4/5 of my shirts have those labels on them so i'd have about 7 or 8 shirts. You seem very motivated and in this situation that's very important.

Oh no I'm not cutting up my shirts, I'm just cutting the little labels out of the backs and cutting those up!

I'm a little confused. Are you talking about kids walking around with labels on the outside of their clothing that shows the name or logo of the designer? For instance; a Nike sweatsuit with the "swoosh" on it. Then when you said that you're "noticing that the clothes these people wear are making them seem cool" I was wondering who they were "seeming cool" to. You? Themselves? Others? Then is this perceived "coolness" somehow a problem in your mind? And if so, is your solution to go to your own closet and rip out the labels that nobody can see anyway as some kind of statement about who you are? So them wearing labels makes them "labeled for what they wear, not who they are", but you not wearing labels LABELS you for who you are, not for what you're NOT wearing. In my school/community people who have nothing better to do than label people based on what they wear, not who they are, might label me a preppy-rich kid -jock in a Jordan sweatsuit. The ones who KNOW me would know I'm a student-athlete that dresses the way he wants...in a Jordan sweatsuit. The same people with nothing better to do, might look at your "lack" of labels and "label" you...independent and non conforming, or just someone who for whatever reason does not wear clothes with labels on them. Neither case has a doggone thing to do with who the wearer really is, IMO. 15 Straight - Loving Life - Love meeting new peeps - Want to help if I can ![]() Girl: "My doctor says I can't have sex for a while." I just thought of another instance of wearing something with a label and how it might be perceived. And where I am guilty of following the crowd because of "coolness" connected with a label.
I don't know about the rest of the country, but around my way, earbuds and small earphones are being replaced by big over-the-head studio style headphones. At the mall, at the gym I work out at, bike riding, all over the school quad, they're everywhere. And 99 percent of them are Dre Beats headphones by Monster. Over the Xmas holidays you couldn't find a pair anywhere. Everybody was sold out. I whined and whined until a relative ordered me a pair of the Studio model online. They're like 300 dollars. I immediately wore them to the gym and there were at least ten other pairs being worn by men and women working out. They were heavy, uncomfortable, and didn't sound near as good as I thought they would. I had my uncle send em back and asked him to get me a pair of Skull Candy Aviators. They're real retro and look like the old world war two headsets bomber pilots wore. Lighter, way more comfortable, sound better than the Beats, in stock locally, and half the price. What's funny is the logos are very small and nobody recognizes them anyway, but the phones look so different, and not like something everybodys got, that lots of people wearing Beats asked me about my phones. 15 Straight - Loving Life - Love meeting new peeps - Want to help if I can ![]() Girl: "My doctor says I can't have sex for a while." I think its a good idea. However, I don't think that the clothes they wear are whats making them 'cool.'
