Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr............. - June 14th 2012, 11:13 PM

Hey guys, whassup.

How do you tell people to get off your back?

I do General Mathematics and I hate it with a passion. ESPECIALLY the people in my class. I come late to Math class sometimes and I find myself having to explain it to my fellow students when I am late.

Yesterday I was late because I had to place someone on report, a very serious criminal accusation was made to me by someone I know and I had to be an informant with the NSW Police.

I warned Carmen [Removed], our teacher, that I was going to be late because I was going to be with police and she said "sweet, no dramas." I came back to school, fifteen minutes to go, I thought I might as well get my bag and see what they were doing in class.

Rock up, sit down, kit up, and then one of the guys in my class, [removed] O'Reilly asks me why I am late, "where have you been?" Not really any of his business, but fair enough, so I tell him, "I was at the police station, I had to do something."

He goes to me, "these excuses get worse and worse every time."

Legit I was about to deck him when he said that. It's no one's business except the teacher's anyway, she knew I was going to be late and it happens every time I am late, NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS WHY!

I have never said anything BTW.

Even yesterday morning, I rocked up early to class, and I was full of energy, I was loud, naturally hyper if you will and I was saying hello to everyone when they walked in and three people, including O'Reilly were sitting with their haeds to the table cracking up full blast at me.

WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?

I asked out Welfare Coordinator and he said I need to stop bringing attention to myself and don't say anything, "just grit your teeth and bear it." I cant' say anything to them.

I am going to ask my councellor and my favorite teacher what they think but what does he mean by "stop drawing attention to yourself?"

Should I say anything?

Feel free to move the thread any which way if you wish.

"I love you <3."

Well, you said that you were in classes being loud and hyper which probably drew attention to you so when he said 'stop drawing attention to yourself', he probably meant toning it down a bit so you aren't as loud and hyper but I think it's silly advice, assuming that you are naturally a loud, hyper person it's basically saying that you shouldn't be yourself so that people don't start up with you which isn't going to solve anything.

When you're late, as you said, it's no-ones business but the teachers and as long as the teacher knows and is understanding of why you're late then you shouldn't have to bother explaining yourself to others, especially if they aren't going to believe you anyway so I wouldn't waste your time explaining it to them, just say you had to do something or it isn't any of their business and stick to that. As for them starting up with you, just ignore it and don't let them get to you. It's annoying to have to grin and bear it but sometimes, that's the better option to avoid kicking up a fuss but if you want to mention it to your counsellor, I don't see why not. They are there to help after all and they could offer some help with the situation.
