Question Prom. - January 14th 2013, 10:52 AM

So, in my sixth form, we've got Year 13 prom coming up on 5th July and people are starting to pay now.

My class is trying to persuade me to go, but I'm kind of undecided about it. I'm kind of friends with these people in my class, but we don't hang out out of school or anything.

So should I go to prom? I'd wear the bridemaid dress from my aunt's wedding, which is a nice dress, but I'd have to figure out what to do with everything else.

And it's a sit down meal. And I'm a vegetarian and a really fussy eater!! So another thing to worry about. And where will I get ready?? I don't want to get ready by myself, I'd feel lonely!!

And what happens if they leave me on my own? I'd hate that!!! I'd feel even worse then!!

Thanks,
RosieJ

22/12/2014 was the last date I self-harmed. The longest I have gone so far is 1 year, 2 months and 5 days. This time, I hope I can give up! New record: 1 year 6 months! Yay!!

Re: Prom. - January 16th 2013, 04:45 AM

Hey there,

I've never been to prom (I'm only a freshman), but I went to homecoming for the first time this year, and I'm sure prom is even more exciting than that...so I vote that you go.

It sounds like your class wants you to go, so I wouldn't be too worried about people leaving you on your own. Worst case scenario, it's a great opportunity to talk to new people, right?

I am vegan, which is even more strict than being vegetarian, and my homecoming had a sit-down dinner also. My dad called ahead and requested a specially made meal or something. Guilty confession of the day: I was kind of embarrassed about that (I really shouldn't have been, haha), so I just ate salad and bread rolls and tried to stay hidden. (I don't recommend this.) If I were you, I'd try to find out what kinds of foods they will have ahead of time, and I'm sure they will have plenty of vegetarian options.

I have to admit, I got ready for homecoming by myself, and it didn't bother me at all. But you could also try to arrange something with a few friends. Maybe you could all meet at one person's house a few hours before prom and get ready together!

I hope you decide to go! I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun. Remember, it is what you make it!
