Question How did you find TH? - January 27th 2013, 06:34 AM

I'm generally curious, was it suggested by a friend or random search turned it up?

The way I found TH was I was having trouble here at home and was packing a bag, I looked up things I would need to take when I ran away, somehow TeenHelp popped up and I looked around a bit and liked what I saw.

What's your story?

Jay.

Hey Jay
I was on my tumblr dashboard and I saw a gif of someone flicking a rubber band against their wrist. I didn't understand what it meant so I looked it up and found the teenhelp list of alternatives to self harm.
Thank you tumblr!

I found it through Google. :P I was considering calling a helpline about a problem I had, but I had never called one before so I looked up what you were meant to say when you called one and Google turned up a thread from TH. I never even called the helpline in the end as I found the help I needed on here, so I'm grateful for this site.

First one that isn't Google.

To Write Love on Her Arms used to list TeenHelp under "Get Help." I was looking there after relapsing on self harm from a couple months being free, and I saw it. Signed up, was a very infrequent member for a couple years actually with occasional blogging. As of early 2011, I was still only an "Average Joe." Then, I got my own lap top.

I was struggling quite a bit with a lot of different issues and typed in "Teen Help" in Google and this popped up. This was in 2007 and I have been a member ever since. Although, I've was less frequent around that time due to the issues I was struggling with.

It seems like years ago now.....briefly, when I was fifteen and sixteen, I used to visit another, much smaller forum which dealt chiefly with depression in teenagers... and when my parents found out they assume it was pro-Self Harm (still not sure why...) and blocked my computer from it, so I found here instead, and stuck here. In a way, I came across this site a really long time ago thanks to my high school. During my freshman year, we had some people from yellow ribbon (http://www.yellowribbon.org/) come in and talk about teenage suicide. I looked up their website online and they had a link to here. I am not even sure they still link people to this website (and I'm too lazy to look it up).

I was really depressed and suicidal and I just tried typing site names into the website bar. I typed in teenhelp, com, teenhelp.net, and then Teenhelp.org, and found TH. I have been on here ever since.

Re: How did you find TH? - February 11th 2013, 04:32 PM

I do not remember how I found TH.
I am really glad I did though.
I found it through google I think.
I found it and I looked around for a few days and then I decided to join.
