Smile Ideas for a hard/boring/empty day - October 27th 2015, 07:16 PM

This site probably has a thousand threads like this one but I really wanted to contribute.
I made this list that could hopefully help someone, life can be so hard so I figured all help helps (?) anyways

* decorate your place. Make sure where you live is exactly as cozy/stylish/personal as you want it
- posters/photos/pics
- curtains/towels/bed stuff
- twinkly lights/lamps/candles

* express yourself
- write a journal/poem/song
- paint (anything from your worst memory to a dream house)
- sing or play an instrument, or just scream into a pillow & jump around

* get rid of your restlessness
- take a walk someplace you haven't seen much of & take in the impressions
- cleanse. Shower, cut/dye your hair, fix up your wardrobe, clean/organize your stuff
- make a list; stuff you want to do, what you need to get done, groceries, gym playlist, fav quotes, anything

* company?
- call someone you miss or haven't seen in a long time; update your calendar the following days you have plans with your friends & family
- visit a pet store/zoo/or even a duckpond. Animals can be more effective than antidepressants
- go someplace & make awkward small talk with strangers. (Library, a park, club, swimming hall, hotel lobby, school yard...) BTW; if you're really bored it can be hilarious to use a fake name and pretend to be someone else

* be extra nice to yourself
- buy those things you so badly want, dedicate a whole day to internet shopping if you'd like
- go hardcore classic; tv & snacks, spoil yourself with your favorite treats & fictional escapes
- try to see the good in you. Everyone has both bad & good in them, every compliment you've ever gotten is because of a reason. You're unique BECAUSE you're you.

* focus on the positive
- look back in photo albums, remember positive memories of experiences such as traveling/adventures/friendships/holidays/achievements
- daydream about your future. What you want out of life, career, relationships, hobbies, bucketlist to childhood dreams, "if you can dream it you can do it" and you deserve it to!
- take small steps. You love tea? Make a cup of tea.
You want to kick something? Watch a karatevideo and copy youtube.
You feel tired? Take a nap while listening to peaceful music.
You feel lonely? Reach out to someone you trust and can rely on.

* distract yourself
- dive in to learning about something you're interested in (internet, books, documentaries etc)
- focus on someone else. Listen to a friend venting/telling a joke/just talking & try to give support or a funny comeback
- laugh! Watch a funny movie, look at 9gag/YouTube, read a comic, mock someone's accent, sing along to a song you don't know the words to, anything that'll make you smile
