Is there an adult version of TH? - April 10th 2017, 03:11 AM

I'm 21 and I still have some of the same problems I had when I started at 14. I know I can still post on this site and I will, but are there any good sites that are similar to this one but geared toward people ages 20-30?
I feel like typing "adulthelp" into google, but I have a feeling that will probably have the same result as when I was looking for friends and googled "adult friend-finder". Not a good search term, not the friends I was looking for.

I wonder the same thing tbh. I was also looking for something like this but my search was like yours: nothing much, or if there was it was directed those who are divorced or who are dealing with issue relating to old age. I mean, we're always welcome here so I guess it's alright to stay, though I see your point on wanting to be in a community of our peers.

I haven't found any, I think that's honestly why a lot of the user's are in their late teens and twenties, like us. You could keep doing a google search, but I think there's a good chunk of people our age here to give us "age appropriate," advice and to make friends with people are age (:

We actually can't recommend competitors here unless they are on our Resources page as stated in the Advertisement policy:
Quote:
Any links posted anywhere on TeenHelp should follow the guidelines posted below: No sites that could be considered to be competitors of TeenHelp. Most websites that contain bulletin board software are considered competitors of TeenHel
I will say that as somebody who has used TH primarily as an adult, this is the only forum/website I have made friends on that I have kept in touch with even as some have came and went from the site.

There are plenty of users in their 20s on this site. And quite a few of those are staff members that are older than yourself. If you want to reach out to any of us for advice or support please do so. Also, if you write into HelpLINK, you can note that you would like advice from older staff memebers.

Re: Is there an adult version of TH? - April 11th 2017, 10:44 PM

TBH, I've wondered the same thing a lot because sometimes I need help with "adult" things and want to know that the responses will be from people who've been there, done that, and not from teenagers who empathize but ultimately just don't have the experiences I need to bounce off of. I'm one of the few who doesn't seem to have friends on TeenHelp either - maybe it's just cause I don't go in the instant messaging page thingy, but who knows I'm also just not here as often as I used to be. I think it's largely just that there isn't a similar site. I think when you become an adult the sites sprea out - you can find forums for weddings, pregnancies, cars, guitars, music, specific sports, and whole piles of other more narrower topics, and I feel like from there you can make space to seek out advice, but I haven't found a general catch all site like teenhelp.

There are a few websites I use besides th. Some of them have a relatively decent community base but because I've been with th so long I didn't quite fit in with those sites and have pretty much given up.

I can say the advice given on those sites isn't much different than th.

Unfortunately, due to the code of conduct, I can't tell you what those sites are.

Maybe this is something that could be considered by admins? What about a particular forum for older members. Just somewhere to post "adult" things, not meaning we can't post everywhere else too.. and not in a way to exclude younger members but just to create a space so us older ones can stick around. This is just a thought, I use another site at times and similar to a poster above, it's not the same as here , but there are forums focussed at particular age groups - teens, 20s and 30s... and then all the other forums are for anyone regardless of age.

Maybe TH could expand and create more forums for the youthfully challenged.

What topics would be in the adult forums that aren't discussed here already?

My only issue with the site, really, is that it has 'teen' in it when a lot of the members are already in their twenties. Also, almost all of them are staff members and probably post on the staffies forum instead of the public forum which makes TeenHelp look a bit dead. Plus, we get the occasional spammer or troll, and they tend to prey on either teenagers or dead sites.

I don't know... that's just me.

I know how you feel! I initially came on here when i was about 15/16, and left a few years ago. Just come back on now to see what it was like at the grand age of 27...

I don't know of any other forums i'm afraid, but if you want to chat, my inbox is always open.

Re: Is there an adult version of TH? - April 16th 2017, 06:43 AM

There's another site (I won't name) that has a forum for "Older Girls (18+, please)," and "Younger Girls" (though it doesn't specify what that age range is).

I imagine a younger person may want to ask questions they know peers their age or just slightly older can answer best. The same person may have other questions they want to seek advice from a more knowledgeable older person.

In all cases the anonymity makes it possible to seek answers to questions one would otherwise not feel comfortable asking.

Or maybe a person just wants to vent, but vent to peers their age, about stuff their age faces.
