question on chat - January 17th 2018, 10:59 PM

I probably should have put this in staff since I'm pretty sure only certain people on staff are going to know this answer, but I'll put it here anyways.

So I have noticed that chat is censoring cussing. I was just wondering why this is? And if there is a filter or something that is making it be censored and if so is there a way to turn that off?

For me it just really bugs me to see the **** and not even the first letter of the word. Even when I watch tv and they bleep out the words as long as I know the first letter I am fine, but if I don't then it really bugs me.

Don't lose who you are, in the blur of the stars
Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing,
It's okay not to be okay
Sometimes it's hard, to follow your heart
Tears don't mean you're losing, everybody's bruising,
Just be true to who you are

I could be wrong, but I think that it is a default setting of the chat itself and not something any individual person can change.

I’m pretty sure Dez is right. It could potentially be a good thing, especially since I’ve noticed a lot of younger users joining lately. I highly doubt there’s a way to turn it off as the chat is now embedded into TH. The only ones who can really answer this question would be Rob, Robin, or Sarah.

Okay, I was pretty sure I wouldn't be able to change it but just thought I'd ask.

There's no harm in asking questions, so I'm glad you did!

Since this has been answered and we can't confirm further, I'm going to ahead and close this.

“There is nothing beautiful about the wreckage of a human being.
There is nothing pretty about damage, about pain, about heartache.
What is beautiful is their strength, their resilience, their fortitude
as they display an ocean of courage when they pick through the
wreckage of their life to build something beautiful brand new,
against every odd that is stacked against them.” — Nikita Gill
