How do I stop thinking about regrets? - August 3rd 2018, 08:29 AM

And it's mostly small things.
Like today I was at the theater with my family. My sister and I decided to split the bill between a small popcorn and milk duds. We ended up causing a large line and annoyed employees. My sister was clueless and I was panicking.
Now that im back home i cant stop playing litterally ever regret in my head.
Why wont they go away?

I can reach out
To someone not like me

I can't speak for everyone but i think regrets make people feel a certain way for different reasons. Maybe you keep thinking about it because you felt anxious during that time? It might be causing you more discomfort because the image of you and your sister in the popcorn line has that anxiety attached to it.

Maybe you can let yourself know that you were anxious but you're okay now, and that you can't change what happened in the popcorn line but you can work on things moving forward. That might help. If not, you could try distracting yourself as well.

Stop thinking too much as it may cause stress. If you keep thinking like that you feel more stressful and it becomes difficult for you to deal with it, so better way leave it.

What makes you say you annoyed employees? I don't know where you're from, but where I live it's quite common for family and friends to split the bill between one another regardless of the venue. Therefore, staff are familiar with what to do in these sorts of situations.

Sure there may have been a line, but these sorts of things happen every day. While it may be a small inconvenience, it's not the end of the world. Although the situation may play on your mind for a while, eventually you will move on from it.

Life is for living, not for losing.

Just think of other good things that happened during the day. It's a waste of time thinking of regrets.
