Keeping spiders out of my home... - August 26th 2022, 08:54 PM

So it's officially spider season (where spiders come into homes to find a mate ) which is like the worst time of year for me because of my fear of spiders... I have been using peppermint spray... all around my home which is meant to deter them,... but I am getting these massive house spiders in my flat/home, some are about the size of my hand....I suck them up in my hoover/vacuum. But is there way to keep them coming into my home?? my peppermint spray which I bought in a shop... that was labelled as spider deterrent is not working! Anyone got any other ideas?? I've tried conkers/chestnuts and they aren't deterring them either....

I’ve heard using food grade Diatomaceous Earth can help. You sprinkle it where you see spiders most often.
The Farmer’s Almanac has more ideas.

Apparently vinegar helps keep spiders away but you wouldn't want to put that through your flat.

Peppermint oil is also supposed to help as well.

I suggest using raid and perhaps have an exterminator come in to destroy any eggs or nest.

The thing with raid though, it's important to have your windows open, as they're toxic to breathe for humans.
