Interview nerves - August 9th 2009, 04:00 PM

So, i've got a meeting on tuesday evening to apply for some funding for some volunteer work i'm doing.

I've handed in an application form, and passed through that stage, so know have a meeting with a few people.

But i havent a clue what to expect. I tried asking, and he said it was an informal gathering to find out more, and that there was nothing i needed to bring.

But i'm not sure whether i'm meant to be preparing a talk, or whether its going to be them asking questions.

To be honest, i'm just really nervous, and dont know what to wear/say/do...help?

They'll probably just ask a bunch of general questions, so try to approach it like a regular conversation. They may ask about previous volunteer work, what volunteering has done for you, why you think you should get the funding, etc.

The best way to handle this kind of interview is to be honest, let them know why you should get the funding but don't overdo it. Show them you're candid about doing volunteer work and try to enjoy yourself. =] As for what to wear, business casual is always a safe bet. (No jeans! )

Heya =)

I don't think you need to prepare anything for a meeting like this. I think it will be just general questions and stuff so no worries =) They may ask you why you are suitable for the position and why you chose that organisation to work for. Find out what the majors aims and goals of the organisation are as those will most likely come up.

I would just wear black trousers and a smart top (no plunging necklines, huge jewellery or tonnes of make up).

Remember to smile!

Also, prepare a couple of questions to ask them. Even if you have not really got any I found from experience employers like you to ask questions as it shows further interest in the company.

Good luck!

Live on love.

Hi Maia,

Alright, I rule at interviews (well, thats my opinion!) First of all, don't worry about it, worrying will just make you even more nervous.

Wear something nice, that you would wear to a job. I usually wear a nice pair of dress pants, and a nice shirt. Try not to wear shirts with writing/words on them.

Remember to smile, and act like yourself! Answer all questions fully!

This site has a lot of information regarding job interviews.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes!
Brittany
