Sidewalk... - September 8th 2009, 08:16 PM

Okay, so I come home from school today to find that the sidewalk in front of my house has been removed and is going to be replaced with a new sidewalk. Well, this you think would be a good thing, right? Well, I'm sure that it is. But for some reason, I'm really upset about my cobbled sidewalk being taken away from my neighborhood. It may sound like the weirdest thing, but I am. Any ideas on what to do about it? Or why in the world I have an emotional attachment to, of all things, a sidewalk?

I don't think it's that weird if you liked the old sidewalk, to be honest. I think that sometimes you just get 'attatched' to things if you're used to seeing them everyday or if you like them a lot, I guess it's the same as liking a piece of furniture or something and then it feeling weird and unfamiliar after it's been moved or taken away. I don't really think there is anything you can do about it apart from know that you will get used to the new sidewalk in time. :]

Lots of people have a problem with change, it's not unnatural at all . I mean really, it's been like that for how many years? It's just what you're used to. Sme deal when people move, or change schools, or get new furniture. There's a sentimantal attachment to what you're used to and always known?

It may be hard to get used to, but I think given some time you'll be alright with it!

Hey hey =]

Cobblestone sidewalks are cuter I agree! I think cobblestone brings a charm factor, a more "homey" feel outside your walls. I am sure you have been used to walking along this walkway for a while, change can be hard to deal with. Although, you will come to like it Maybe you can draw stones on the sidewalk with chalk? That might help make it "more your own". You could talk to your town about changing it back if you want. They might hear you out =] But sidewalks are technically not residential property... Maybe if you get a group together, you can make a change!

Good luck,

Thanks guys =) I managed to take some pictures of the remaining bits of the sidewalk and think I'm probably gonna be okay with the new one after a bit.......wow, it still seems weird to me that I'm talking about a sidewalk like this xD
