Things to do in San Francisco! - October 5th 2009, 12:58 PM

I'm going to be in San Francisco this year from the 20th through the 22nd for NaNoWriMo's Night of Writing Dangerously. I'm really excited to go. The Writeathon is on the 22nd, from 6 to midnight, so that leaves a good part of Friday (when our flight gets in), all of Saturday, and most of Sunday for sightseeing!
What are some places I should check out while there?

The golden gate bridge, Alkatraz, it's very interesting, if you're in to that sort of history, fisherman's wharf is always good. Just general sight seeing around the city is great too, oh, and you have to ride the trams.
Have a great trip!

Alcatraz is really cool, you can literally spend the whole day there. Also go to the crookedest street there and wax museum, the Ripley's believe it or not, and of course the Golden Gate Bridge.

Oooh, I love San Fran.

My personal favorite destinations:
-San Francisco Zoo
-EXPLORATORIUM (SO AMAZING)
-Gotta see Lombard Street (The windy famous one)
-China Town is amazing there- Look for Dim Sum places if you like that type of food

If you by any chance take a drive down the coast:
-Monteray Bay Aquarium
-Santa Cruz Boardwalk
-Carmel Beaches

I went there this summer. My favourite parts were cycling over the golden gate bridge and going to Alcatraz. I also enjoyed shopping! I hope you have an amazing time Just to warn you though it will probably be cold. I went out in shorts one day and nearly froze! Let us know how you get on!

Ohhh I Love SanFran...I'm sure you'll have an amazing time As others have mentioned, Alcatraz is really cool, you should check that out. Also Fisherman's Warf & Pier 39 are good for all that touristy shtuff. And of course the Golden Gate...that's an obvious one.

Hope you have fun!

I go to San Francisco all the time, because I only live like an hour away. Pier 39 is really cool. If you have money, than you gotta to go Bubba Gumps. Right across from Bubba Gumps is a super cool shop called Sock Town. They have a TON of cool socks. Haha... It's worth looking around.
I honestly don't think Alcatraz is all that cool. Sorry. The Golden Gate Bridge is alright. If you have never been on a boat before, I wouldn't try the wharf tours. Most people get sea sick. You must check out the big seals, just look anywhere on the shore, and they will be there.
Don't forget to bring a jacket! It is very chilly in San Francisco. It is warm like the rest of California!
