Funeral readings - November 18th 2009, 09:32 PM

Hey,
I have to read a reading for my cousin's funeral on Tuesday, I am finding it troublesome finding a fitting reading or poem for the funeral. I want something a little bit different, but still inspirational. I have scouted the net and can't find anything good that I like, would someone be able to provide me with some websites if they know of any.
Thanks

Hi Paige,

First of all I'm really sorry for your loss, I know losing a loved one is very hard. Being able to step up and say something at the funeral is a good idea, but also makes things very hard.

I will give you the link to the speech that I read, at my cousin's funeral.

I really hope that you find what it is you are looking for. If you need more idea's let me know. Stay strong.

PM me anytime
Brittany

Hey.

I'm sorry about your loss, it really sucks :/

When I gave my speech at my grandpa's funeral 2 weeks ago, I was totally unprepared. I didn't know what to say because I just didn't want to sound stupid and emotionless.

But instead I spoke from my heart, and I poured out my emotions and I told a lot of stories and the good times. And then everyone there burst into tears.

So just speak from your heart, that's what I'm saying.

Thinking of you,

Laela.

Hey there Paige,

I'm also sorry to hear about your loss and I think that it's lovely that you're going to do a reading at your cousin's funeral.
There are a lot of funeral poems on [this site] if you click on the different links there and there are also some funeral readings [here]. Reading out verses from the Bible, if you find that appropriate to you, is a very popular decision when it comes to making readings at funerals.
I'd also strongly back up Laela's suggestion of speaking from the heart. Even if you modify another reading just to make it more personal or if you write something yourself, I'm sure that that would be ideal and meaningful for your cousin's funeral.

Good luck with it and take care.
