Getting medical records - November 24th 2009, 10:31 PM

I want to get my records from my old therapist, but no longer live anywhere near her office so I can't just go ask for them. How would I go about getting them? Do I need to call her office? What do I tell him?

I would call them and just let them know that you don't live near them anymore. They could probably either mail it to you, or fax it (I'm pretty sure that they would mail it).

Good luck

It depends on where you live.
If you live in Canada and went to a therapist that was in public health care (paid by the government) the records would be kept at one central place for that health care service, and you would call them and have them mail it to you. It costs money though.
Like when I wanted my medical records I had to go to the hospital and ask for a form to fill out, which got sent to Alberta Health Services, and they mailed me my records a few months later with an invoice to which I had to mail them back payment ($20).
If you lived in the UK I would suspect it to be similar.
If you're in the States I have no idea.

In the UK they should be able to mail it, you may have to pay postage. Give them a call. :]
I'm staying clear of my records, they're too long.
