Hearing Footsteps.... - December 7th 2009, 02:25 AM

Okay, so I really don't know where to post this so if it's in the wrong place, feel free to move it

Anyway;
A little bit of background..
My grandad died last week.
He was suffering for a while, he had cancer for 2 years and eventually was told there was nothing else the doctors could do for him.
I went to visit him the few days previous to his death.
I was there most of the day when he died.
When he passed away; I was in the room with him - not more than 2 feet away from him.
I have never seen someone die before and I was so shocked.

Now...
I don't believe in ghosts.
I have never believed in ghosts.

But.. I was sitting downstairs 2 nights ago at around 3 in the morning, and I heard a noise coming from the room directly above the room I was in at that time. ( The room above it, was my BEDROOM )
I heard a bang as if something had fallen.
Then... Footsteps ... very clearly they were footsteps.. and I could follow them across the room.
This was from my bedroom above where I was ..

There are only 2 rooms upstairs, mine and my brothers.
My brother was not in his room that night, he was staying downstairs, and my parents were in their room ( also downstairs )
So I knew that NO-ONE was upstairs, yet I heard footsteps.

I told my mother the next day, and of course she thought I was just hearing things.

That was 2 nights ago that I heard the footsteps.
I was talking to my mother again tonight about it and she told me that earlier tonight, while she was the only one in the house - she heard footsteps ... coming from upstairs ... my bedroom..

I don't know what is happening..
It's really scary.
I'm not a very superstitious person.
I don't get scared easily.
But this is scaring the S*%T outa me

Could it be something to do with my grandad dying last week? Like because I was there with him, am I being haunted or something?
I don't know how to describe it but I really would like some advice if possible.
What do you think it is ?

Thanks for any help x

Aw, maybe it is your grandad,.. I dont use the word 'haunting' it sounds as if they're trying to scare you It could be him just letting you all know hes watching over you

I have the same thing, recently moved into my nan and grandads old house (they both passed away)
And the other day I walked in, nobody else here.. and the kettle turned on, on its own and started boiling...
And the first thing my nan would always do when we walked in would be to go into the kitchen and put the kettle on!
So yeah, I am a firm believer of ghosts, and I think it could be your grandad.
P.S. Sorry about your grandad passing away!

It could be your granddad, and if it is, he is not trying to scare you, or hurt you. When my granddad passed. I thought I heard him as well. Maybe you could get a ghost hunter into your house?

Hey Laura,

I've never had any supernatural experiences, so to speak, but I do believe in spirits. I think that our loved ones who have died are able to give us signs that they are still around and we are still in their minds. It's probably possible that it could be your grandad giving you a sign and letting you know that he is there. Instead of letting this scare you, tell yourself that it's someone who cares about you, living or dead, and who simply wants to let you know that you are loved and that they are with you.

Id be scared if I was in the same situation. However I would come to realise, its nothing to be scared of. Its just your grandad letting you know he is still there with you. Dont be afraid, he means no harm.

I agree, it's probably your Grandad watching over you.
When my great nan died, I woke up one night to see her sitting on the edge of my bed, I reached out to her but she just smiled and shook her head, she was their when I went back to sleep.

Also, last year my Grandad died, and since then when I wake up at night I always see an orb on my cealing above my bed, it scared me at first, but now I know it's just him looking after me whilst I'm asleep.

I agree with what everyone else said. It does seem that it would be frightening in that situation. If I were you, I'd try an experiment just for the fun of it. Leave a note asking if it's him to move a specific item or to answer back. Then you can find out for sure if it's really him. I'm sure he's just trying to keep you safe, not trying to scare you. Just relax and be happy you are never alone.

Whatever it is, chances are I've been there.
If I can make it out, you can too.

Maybe he doesn't like the light, or that was his way of saying to you " look i'm here" just remeber spirts can't actully hurt you, so you don't need to be afraid, your grandad will be watching over you, making sure your okay.... I'm quite into spirits myself, i saw my ex boyfreinds mother, she'd passed away years before i'd met him, and i'd never ever seen her, yet one night she was stood in the corner of his room pretty weird lol.. another time was about 3 weeks after my grandma had passed away, my grandad had to move into a bungalow, nobody else smokes in my family apart from my grandma, i walked into the living room and sure enough there was this strong smell of ciggarate smoke, noone had smoked in the house, and the it was newly built.. another time i was driving home, and had my radio on. the radio went off and a lady shouted stop the car, i saw like a white mist as well, two weeks later i was driving down the same road, when i learner driver pulled out infront of me, i was doing 50 in a 60 and she pulled out at around 10 miles, my brakes wernt working properly i wa son my way to the garage to get them fixed, i managed to stop intime and not hit her, i don't understand how because with my brakes being as bad as they were, i should of hit her... the near crash was right near where i heard the women shout stop the car.

I got chills hearing about the footsteps.

I believe in ghosts so I do agree that that might be your grandad. Especially if there weren't any footsteps before his passing.

We used to live in an apartment block that was built on the site of a cemetery. Creepy... I know.. but I was young at the time so it didn't matter so much. But one night, our organ started to play on its own. This kept up for months.. and it turned out to be a 'good spirit' who was just making his/her presence known. So, I agree with Kayleigh. Your grandad might simply be trying to tell you that he's there and watching over you.

Thanks for the replies
I feel a lot less scared now about it all.
I tried talking to my granda, if it was him, I told him I loved him and missed him and that I wasn't scared if he was there with me.
