For all of you who like to write. - April 25th 2010, 12:15 AM

Meet Write or Die, by Dr Wicked. This is awesome. You set your word goal and time limit, and then you set your grace period (how long before your consequence comes), and your level of consequence.

As soon as you start writing, it starts counting down your grace period every time you stop. After a certain amount of time of not writing (warned by the screen background going from pink to bright red), your consequence occurs.

Gentle Mode: A little window pops up and encourages you to keep writing.
Normal Mode: An irritating noise starts playing. I've gotten Rick Astley singing and a screechy baby-cry.
Kamikaze: Your work will start unwriting itself.

I thought this might be a cool motivational tool for recreational writing or creative writing assignments.

Ah, I've used that before. Personally, I find it doesn't help me, but I've got a friend who absolutely loves it, so I guess it depends. Still, I'll try anything once. I'm always looking for new methods of motivation.

Interesting!! I'm not sure how well it might work for me, but I love writing so I'll give it a try (:

It wouldn't help me at all, I end up turning the computer off in frustration especially if I got a baby crying.

I'm kind of the same. Either that or I forget I'm meant to be writing and sit there wondering where the noise is coming from.

I love writing, and writer‘s block is enough of a consequence. :P

I think I'll give it a try, sounds like a good motivator!!
