Thumbs down Gross... - June 24th 2010, 11:53 PM

I don't know if this is where to post this topic, so please feel free to move it if you need to.
Has anyone seen earwigs in their homes lately? My boyfriend's mom and I have, and so did my boyfriend's dad's girlfriend. They think it's because of the weather (it's rained almost every day this month) but I don't know, I don't think I've ever seen them before, if I recall. They're just gross, and super hard to kill (don't react to bug spray for about an hour or two).
Just wondering if anyone else has seen them in their homes lately.

We get them a lot at work, but I see them every so often in my house. I wouldn't really worry about it, I believe it is because of the weather too.

And I will take you in my arms, and hold you right where you belong.
Til the day my life is through, this I promise you.121109

Well I read online that they're poisoned by dish soap. But I'm not going to buy like 10 bottles just so I can have a squirt fight with an earwig
I hate bugs too, though

My gf has them at her house sometimes, usually a newspaper or magazine does the trick!

Re: Gross... - June 25th 2010, 10:45 AM

I'm probably going to bug bomb our house. Last night when we were falling asleep, I looked out of the corner of my eye and saw two earwigs on the wall. I screamed and made my boyfriend kill them. I got a total of 30 minutes of sleep last night because I just can't sleep when there are bugs in the room. And I'll be damned if these things are gonna stop me from sleeping in my own house!

Haha I would rather much have earwigs than the type of spiders we get here lately for some reason

They are like 2 inches big and thick

The thing I don't get is, spiders feed off of other insects right?
Well ever since these bad boys came to town, the spiders went away. We had the same kind of spiders that you just described but they've been nowhere to be seen since the earwigs have been here.
I'd rather have spiders protecting me from other insects lol.

I'm not sure if we even get earwigs in my neck of Canada, but I have never ever seen one and seriously hope I never do. They sound very unpleasant, and just...dirty.

Re: Gross... - June 28th 2010, 07:37 PM

When I asked my brother why they are called Earwigs he told me it was because they would crawl in my ears while I slept and lay eggs there...

I was terrified of them for years and they still creep me out now because of this...
