Do you know what these are called? - July 24th 2010, 03:45 PM

I've been digging in some old boxes and I've found a box full of small football character models. I can't think of a name to put to them. They're about 15 years old now, so they must be worh something.

Can anyone think what they're called?

Oh My God!

I remember them, didn't you get them in like chocolate footballs or something?

They aren't bobble heads because they didn't wobble.

This is going to bug me now.

Although I know that they do have massive heads, they're not bobble heads!

I'm not sure if they came in chocolate eggs or not because my brother doesn't eat chocolate, and he has loads of these.

I just can't remember what they are at all.

There used to be a football game (like board game out) called Subbuteo, and there was characters came with it. They look very similar to what my brothers had.

Subbuteo was the ones with the round base you had to flick around the pitch

You did get them with chocolate. The advert has a song that said "Football crazy, chocolate mad. Grab a powerpod and play football with the lads"
The mini ones came with chocolate and then normal sized where bough on there own.

Powerpodz microstars where the small ones.
I found this about them
http://www.prnewswire.co.uk/cgi/news/release?id=63110

They where made by Corinthian and they also made pop star ones.

Yeah, they say Corinthian on the bottom. It just didn't mean anything to me.

They're not subbutio. I've got loads of those also!

When I had a look at the ones I've got they ranged in years from 1995 to 1999. So it's a 90's thing. I'll have a google at the things you've said.

I think it's funny how it's only been girls answering about football. Thanks girls!

Omg I remember that! It's strange that they came with chocolate though. My brother never eats chocolate so I don't know how he got some.
