Unhappy Alone - August 29th 2010, 03:05 AM

i don't know what to do. i don't know where to go. i have people who love me, but they never say it or even show it. i can post things on my facebook that nobody will say a thing on (new haircut, a song title/ lyric, needing help, etc.) others will post the exact same thing as me and get hundreds of comments (exagerrated a little). i feel like nobody cares enough to see the little things (or biggies) in my life and they only care about their other friends. i go back to school in 2 days and so far i have one friend excited about my new hair color/ cut because its a huge change from before. i have so many who claim to be excited to see me, but when i try to make plans to see them i never get a response. i don't know what to say or even do, because i'm so alone and i'm tired of being the "loner" of my group of friends.

Hi Lauren!

Welcome to TH. (: I hope you'll find that you certainly ARE appreciated and cared about here. Is the hair and haircut in your user picture the new one? I don't have an old one to compare it too, but that's really excited! I'm sure that it's going to look stunning on your first day of school. I start school in two days too, actually -- I can't believe the school year is ACTUALLY here.

I think you should make this year about making new friends! Of course, you can always keep the old ones, but in my opinion, we were made to love and be loved ... and what's the point of all that if no one is ever going to show it? My friends and I are ALWAYS making a point to go out of our way and show each other we care - it makes things muchhhh more fun! So, I think you should look into different clubs or sports teams so you can find people with interests similar to yours. Foster those relationships, and see what happens.

Good luck this year!

Hey! Cheer up! As a not-so-popular high school student, I know how it feels. However, from my experience, I want to tell you two things.

Firstly, there's something about the popular person's post that attracts attention. It can be a good joke. Or it can concern about others' interests, such as by mentioning a school event or something that happened in a class. Or simply, the person is popular and others are fawning to that person, which belongs to most of the case. To make people more interested, you can consider devising the way of making posts some way. My posts always vary greatly in response, according to how many people it interests.

Secondly, I don't think it's a negative thing to be a 'loner'. It's a thing that I learned after years and years of social interaction. You may be in a bad situation simply because you are unlucky; you could be better and happier in another group of people. Or it can be a characteristic. But remember, never be ashamed or feel bad about being yourself! Whatever others think about you, you are good if you think you are good.

Yeah. Anyways, good luck with school!

well the thing i said was that we said the same thing and the same people would comment. and there really isnt a popular crowd at my school for some reason. and im not used to being a loner because i used to be surrounded by friends. its weird
