Recipes for vegans... - February 25th 2009, 07:30 PM

I have recently decided to go vegan. My parents arn't really happy about it so I'm trying to look up some recipes that my whole family would like that doesn't have meat or some kind of fish in it.
I looked it up on many different websites but not many things sound all that good. Does anyone have any meal ideas?

I know a lot of my vegan friends use : http://vegweb.com/
It's just a matter of searching the site for something you may like. Other than that try buying or going to a library for a vegan cookbook. There are so many good vegan cookbooks out there.

Chooseveg.com has a lot of good recipes.
Also, if your family isn't sure about this, maybe try easing them into. Start flexetarian, then vegetarian, then Vegan. This will show them that it's somthing your going to stick with and that it isn't as hard/dramatic as it might seem.

I'm not vegan, or even vegetarian, but for meals that aren't family means, I often don't eat meat. I just don't like it. One of my favorite "inventions" is a salsa sandwich. All I do is put cheese, salsa, and then cheese again (the cheese keeps the bread from getting soggy, so I don't know if it would work for you.) That wouldn't be so tasty, though, if you don't like tomatoes. xD Or salsa wraps. Mmm.

Just a note--be careful when buying food, some vegetable soups even have meat stock in them! Read your labels. :]

Someday I will be strong enough to lift not one but both of us.

I told you to be fine
I told you to be balanced
I told you to be kind

This place has vegan recipes from around the world:
http://www.ivu.org/recipes/

Some others:
http://www.vegan-food.net/
http://www.veganchef.com/
http://www.randomgirl.com/recipes.html

Just do a search on Vegan Recipes.
That is where I found those sites at.

Good luck. And I hope your parents come around
