I just realised I've never really said what this site truly means to me, I thought I'd make this thread
 I remember I was 14 and never felt like I belonged anywhere, I was quiet in school and people took advantage of that and bullied me. I had a group of friends who grew out of me, they weren't the same people anymore. The bullying also got worse, I considered suicide at a few points in my life. I remember wanting to take an overdose in the school toilets, write a suicide note saying exactly who bullied me (I wanted them to suffer) Luckily it never went that far. I did make a group of friends but we all got drunk a LOT, it was like my escape from reality. I had nobody to really talk about how I was feeling. I wanted to find a teen support forum online, I found a few but all the ones I joined made me feel like more an outsider. I didn't like the staff members very much, the way the site was run and I didn't find the members very helpful. I had almost given up finding a forum which could help. One day I decided to give finding another site a try, I just google searched "teen help forum" and this popped up. I lurked about for a while to see if I had signed up before, I thought to myself if I had then the layout was probably different. I decided to make a thread. I loved the members here almost straight away everyone seemed to friendly and caring. I kept posting here.Then one day I was on the phone to my friend and signed into TH without really thinking and a PM popped up*. It was from the Talent Committee saying I should apply to be a Buddy, I actually told my friend I'd phone him back as I was so shocked  The idea that a site I had been looking for for so long actually wanted me to be part of staff made me so happy. I still love you guys and hope I'll be a member here for a very long time <3333Quote:

Ah, my heart smiles. (: What a lovely story! So glad you took our "You've Been Spotted!" PM as a "YAY" moment instead of a "OMG I'M BEING FOLLOWED" moment.

I don't know you, but have always wanted to get to know you. You seem like a very strong person. I like seeing you around, because you are so friendly. I'm glad that TH has had a good impact on you, as I'm sure you've had a good impact on so many THers.

Aw, what a lovely story! I love this site. I agree that the members are far nicer here than on any other forum I've ever joined.
Hence why I've stuck around! I don't think I've ever stayed at a forum this long. You've come a long way!  Proud of you! Thanks for sharing!

This is a nice thread.
 I feel the same way as you. I've never felt more at home than I do here. It's a wonderful community, and, I have to say, one of the best support forums I've found. It took me a while to realise how good this site was, but then I joined staff, and I've had absolutely no regrets since. I do get a little apprehensive when I get PMs too, especially with things like 'A Message From the Performance Committee'.
Nothing in the world is the way it ought to be. It's harsh, and cruel. But that's why there's us - champions. Doesn't matter where we come from, what we've done or suffered, or even if we make a difference. We live as though the world is as it should be, to show it what it can be. |
