I need to get out of the house more -
March 22nd 2011, 09:56 PM
My problem is I have hobbies but they all involve me being inside :/ I like drawing, music, films, TeenHelp (
) and computer games. I'm isolating myself staying inside all the time. What could I do which makes me go outside? I want to join our local amatuar (sp?) dramatics society but they're half-way through rehearsing a play and can't join until after April. Eh

Maybe you could go for walks with friends or family or something. Or you could go swimming or some other sport maybe.
Why not search for local clubs in your area to and see if any of them interest you. There could be a film club or a drawing club that you could get involved in so why not see xI hope you find something fun to do outside the house

Sadly I live in quite a crap area in Britain. There isn't an awful lot going on here :/ Most of the classes in the resource center don't start until September either.

There has to be something you can do in your community. Why don't you just jog around your neighborhood? That is a good hobby. You are not only getting exercise, but you are away from the computer. If you don't want to to that, go out and take pictures. Take pictures of everything, and anything. I'm sure you will end up finding something you enjoy doing.

Take your sketch book and draw outside while listening to music. Go volunteer somewhere that requires you to have to be outside some.

I'm not ENTIRELY sure if I can volunteer anywhere. I'm on Employment and Support Allowance due to my disability, anxiety and depression. I don't know if I would be allowed to. I could ask my mental health nurse. I wouldn't mind working in a charity shop now and then. The one in our town has some cool clothes

I was about to recommend you to join a martial art school and have fun there. It's really fun and most schools will offer at least 2 free trials for you to decide (if not, ask for it). What's nicer about this is that if you join a good school, attending about twice per week will be enough to keep your entire body sore for the rest of the week. A good teacher will push your body--stamina, endurance, and flexibility--to its limits, . After several month, it would get easier but . . . yeah, prepare for some serious soreness at first.Even if you aren't good at fighting, the training will still give you a tougher body. It'll make you stronger in one way or another. Who knows, maybe martial art can be your new hobby ![]() Again, does this "disability" restrict your physical activities? ![]() |

Yep, it does. I have E.D.S. (Classical, type 2) I wasn't allowed to do P.E. in school because of it. Luckily I haven't got the worst case scenario but I still bruise easily and get subluxations easily.

If you like drawing or reading, you could sit outside and do that while listening to music as suggested and if you can, you could volunteer at a charity shop or something. Maybe even just going for walks or something everyday, even if it's just to the shop or something. It gets you out. :]

Try bringing some of your indoor hobbies outside. Draw, listen to music, etc outside. You never know, you could discover another interest that is outside. If not, try taking a long walk and just drawing what you see
When I need inspiration, I do my writing outside.
