Favourite Type of Mythology? -
June 9th 2011, 11:50 AM
I've always been into mythology but I've recently started looking at it more again so I was just curious what everyone's favourite type is?
By type I mean Greek, Roman etc. etc. I think I got most, if not all, of the main types on the poll but if I haven't I'm sorry ![]() I think my favourite type would be a toss-up between Celtic and Nordic mythology, I find it fascinating ![]() I also used to have such a love of the Egyptians, I still have a lot of statues of the Gods and things lying about somewhere. ![]() |

I always found Greek mythology to be the most interesting out of the options listed, but probably because it's the one focused on most often in standard education here in the U.S.

The Aztec Mythology was the one thought in school so I picked that. Even though they did focus of Greek and others but they mainly did teach that one. I like all the names they are so complex and fun to same.

They only taught us Greek mythology, so I like that one. But my favorite has to be a toss up between Egyptian, Celtic, or Norse.

I always really liked Roman and Japanese mythology.
"Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it." |

Yeah where I live, our 7th grade English class actually spent about a month and a half on Greek mythology. And if you wanted, you could take a class on mythology in high school. I'm also really jealous about these mythology classes. All I've done in school is a few weeks on Ancient Egyption, which touched a bit on their mythology.
I do find mythology interesting. If I had to pick a favourite (which you seem to have forced us to do ) I'd probably go with Celtic.
Nothing in the world is the way it ought to be. It's harsh, and cruel. But that's why there's us - champions. Doesn't matter where we come from, what we've done or suffered, or even if we make a difference. We live as though the world is as it should be, to show it what it can be. |

Norse, for sure. The gods seem like real people and I've always been interested in the runic part of the mythology, the Elder Script more than the New Script. With the gods, I'm torn between Loki and Idunn. I read one book that had a very interesting dynamic to the relationship between Freyja and Freyr but that hasn't helped their case in the slightest...

I'd say Celtic mythology is my favorite, but Aztec is certainly quite fascinating too.

I've really only learned about Greek and Roman mythology, with a bit of Egyptian thrown in. So I'd have to say Greek for now.

I know little bits about some different types of Mythology but my favourite would have to be Greek.

My favourites would be Egyptian and Roman. And Greek... I like mythology. But I ticked Egyptian.
