Just thoughts -
July 7th 2011, 04:41 AM
So, I was watching this movie today, Dakota Skye, and a part came up where the guy said to the girl, "If you were to jump off a building, which way would you face? Would you face the sky, and let the end come suddenly and unexpectedly, or would you face the ground so you knew the exact moment that would be your last?"
I dunno, I guess I kind of found this really interesting. I thought about it a little, and I think I'd face the ground. To me I think it would give me more of a feeling of control, which I realized a while ago is a reason why I SH'd. I just thought this was kind of cool and thought I'd share with everyone and maybe discuss it a little. ;D Thanks for reading! Interesting question, I think I would rather face down I would be too curious just to face up and not see what exactly is waiting for me if that makes any sense. Facing down I know what will happen and when, facing up I down know what’s going on you all of the sudden black out.

I think it is actually a very interesting question. It's not something I have ever really given much thought to. After thinking about it for a while I think I'd choose to face forward so I could see the ground. I think I'd be too much of a chicken to fall backwards, even though I think that would be less scary in a way because you don't know what's coming. Seeing the sky would be nice, but I'd just be too scared. I mean... I'd be scared either way, but if I really had to choose, I'd face forward.

I would jump off it so I would fall feet first and then as I went down I would move myself to face the sky because then you get a nice end of life view...

Interesting question. I guess if I had to choose I would rather face the sky because then you wouldn't know when it's going to happen.
Just letting you know though, I would have friends waiting there with something to catch me, like a sheet or blanket. (But not a mattress, unless it's like Temperpedic or something because that would hurt because of the springs. xD ) Oh, maybe like, a pit at the bottom filled with pillows. That would be comfy! Yes, I'll make my friends build a pit of pillows for me. =) ^^ Plot Twist! xD ![]() People help the people, And if you're homesick, give me your hand and I'll hold it. |

Lol, nice, Amanda!
![]() And yeah, I think going feet-first would also have its advantages, like, being able to look up at the sky until you're almost to the end so you can still see the ground coming. The only problem is, you never know which angle will kill you, really.

I'd face the ground, because if a bird poops, I don't die with bird poop on my face...

I've actually wondered this before haha...
I'd rather face down because the mere image of the back of my head hitting the ground and gushing into 100 pieces without me seeing it coming just makes me cringe. I know It'll be the same if I face the other direction but it just seems less painful if that makes any sense? Carpe Diem: Seize the Day/Moment.

I've never really thought about this before now and just the thought actually makes my stomach turn upside down.
Anyway, I think I'd face the sky because I think I would prefer to have my last few moments looking at the sky rather than getting a face full of whatever I was landing on. Plus, if I'm going to be on CSI then I can't have a messed up face, can I? ![]() |

Hm...that's a tough choice. I think that I would rather face the ground, because I feel like if I did face the sky, I wouldn't enjoy the view, I'd spend the whole way down thinking about how much longer it would be until I hit the ground.

Neither, I'd land head first cus if I'm going to be falling off a building I'd rather die on impact rather than die after load of internal bleeding/broken things >_> (this is assuming the building was so high that there was no chance of surviving at all)
Yes, it's that simple. Life for you has been less than kind So take a number, stand in line We've all been sorry, we've all been hurt But how we survive is what makes us who we are. I'd jump facing the ground because on my way down, who knows, I could catch a glimpse of cleavage, people having sex/making out or whatnot and what's better than dying with a smile on your face (or what's left of it if it's from a high building). There may be a glimmer of hope I could live after the impact so I'd try to land in a way where I wouldn't die right away.
I can rip you off, and steal all your cash, suckerpunch you in the face, stand back and laugh. Leave you stranded as fast as a heart-attack.

I think I would WANT to face the sky, because I wouldn't want to see the ground, and I hate heights. But when it comes down to it, I would face the ground because of the curiosity of what I'm falling to and how far I have to go until I hit ground.

I like Lyndsee would WANT to face the sky, the anticipation of knowing when I am going to Hit the ground would be too much so I would have to see it.

I hate heights and it probably would feel like a shorter distance down if I was facing the ground, so I'd face the ground. I'd just be scared out of my mind on the way down. xD

Re: Just thoughts -

I hope that I never have to jump off a building to actually experience this
but... If I had to choose... I'd choose to face the sky. If I faced the ground I would most likely start freaking out because I would feel like I'm so close to the ground, have a panic attack in the middle of the air (if I didn't already have one ), I would probably feel really sick and anxious..., and I'd be trying to prepare myself for the pain that is to come which wouldn't do any help because I would be trying to over-analyze how much it would hurt and if I would die. If I was looking up at the sky, there would be a less freaking out reaction because I wouldn't know how far/close the ground is from me. So my last thoughts would be much more pleasant because there is less freaking out and more time to think back on my life. Although, I'm pretty sure that I'd freak out either way. And even if I started facing towards the sky I'd end up freak out and move around a lot, like trying to catch myself on something, which would then just lead me to face the ground.... ![]() I don't know if my post made any sense. But, yeah.

I would face the sky so that I know my last moment would be utterly beautiful and blissful.
It's said that people who do jump off buildings and who fall backwards, while being horrible mangled and torn up, have quite the smile on their face from the feeling of falling so peacefully. That's what I heard in a movie anyway. I like to pretend it's true.

I would face the sky, because I come close to attempting suicide a lot, but the fear holds me back. There's no fear in seeing the sky. No struggle, just peace and tranquility.

Id face straight forward. I don't want to face the sky because Id realize the beauty in the world and how much more there is to life instead of giving in. Id have regrets. I want to look straight forward and face the building so I can look in on the people in the window as I jump.
