I'm incredibly upset. - July 7th 2011, 05:18 AM

To save on time and effort, I'll quote my former post instead of repeating myself.

I was told you received reports about me and him, but if you ask the people who were online, I stopped when asked, and it was accepted that I am in general a pretty nice person.

(I make this in hopes of once more being allowed to sit quietly in your chat room)
As is probably clear, I would much prefer a civil discussion about this than another ban, or having my thread deleted/locked. So, if we can be mature about this, let's have a chat.

Have you considered bringing this up with the Disputes Committee? This is what they are there for.

I had preferred the idea of a nice discussion, but I suppose I could give these people a chance. Thank you, fine member of the teenhelp.org forums.

Disputes are probably the best bet, us as members cannot give you much else I don't think. I'm sorry this happened though, and I hope this gets sorted.

Your best bet is the disputes.

Go to CONTACT US and find it from there. Let us know how that goes, sadly, we can't do much for the situation xx

I don't know the story of what happened but I am curious as to why you stated you would be willing to have a short ban as that indicates you clearly did something you know was wrong, whether it be spamming & trolling or something else. If it was minor or if you were completely innocent, then I'd like to think pretty much everyone on TH minus the particular moderator would be in your support.

I would also like the idea of a nice discussion for issues anyone has, it's one of the reasons why I dislike/hate the Disputes Committee. If you post what happened (i.e. copy & paste from the chatroom session or describe the reports), then I'd think that would be a fair way of having other users, certainly myself, tell you our opinions on the situation and the sanctions that happened. You'd probably get some members from the Disputes Committee post in here as well as irrelevant staff members but ultimately, any rectifications need to go through the Disputes Committee.

I can rip you off, and steal all your cash, suckerpunch you in the face, stand back and laugh. Leave you stranded as fast as a heart-attack.

I'd be willing to accept a short ban because, as said in my original post, I was reported (for triggering topics apparently (I'm new and had no idea what they were)), as well as the, in my opinion justified, though still against the rules evasion necessary to post a thread, seeing as I was permabanned both in the chat and forums. I agree that discussions are better than behind the scenes dealings (mostly because that kind of thing usually responds in a "he said she said" deal where the mods words are taken as more trustworthy, and the user stays banned). Unfortunately I have no chat logs of the event, partly because I can't seem to copy chat logs and paste them anywhere other than the chat, and partly because the chat was cleared, and then I was banned from it. For further (though likely repetitive reading) you may read my report to the Disputes Committee, if you'd like. I shall place it in a spoiler below to save some space.

My opinion on the issue isn't worth much as I cant rectify what happened but the ban makes no sense.

[Edited.]

In regards to a short ban, it's your job as a member to read the chat policies, so I have no sympathy for you not knowing them. However, I do have sympathy in that many members scream "triggering, triggering" so quickly it can become a nuisance and almost comical. Besides, chat has Support & Advice Rooms 1 and 2 for the reason of discussing triggering stuff.

In other words, although I cant see the chat logs, if I were a staff member I wouldn't give you a ban at all.

If you need chat logs, try contacting one of the project coordinators (aka administrators), Rob or Mel. They're usually pretty busy so you may not get a response the same or next day you contact them.

Re: I'm incredibly upset. - July 8th 2011, 12:12 PM

Thank you for sharing your concerns, however as an early post in this thread explained, the Disputes Committee are the appropriate group to deal with this situation. They are the only people who have the authority to reverse your ban. Since you have now raised a dispute with them, this thread no longer serves a purpose and is therefore being closed.

Furthermore, it is not necessary to register new accounts in order to appeal your ban. You can - and should - contact the Disputes Committee from the banned account. A perfectly good reason of why this is the case is the fact that you didn't even include your previous username in your dispute(!), and so the only reason we are able to deal with this situation at all is because we have some clever people on our team who can figure it out.

Evading a permanent ban on multiple occasions is unambiguously against the rules and will not help your case. If you're serious about demonstrating your initial ban was inappropriate then I would suggest breaking further rules is not the best way to do it. As such, I have issued a ban on this account also. You will receive a response from the Disputes Committee via email.

The Disputes Committee does not need to take anybody's word as more trustworthy than another's: we can see precisely what was said from the moment you logged into the Chat Room to the moment you were banned.

No member of the Disputes Committee who has any direct or indirect involvement in your initial ban is permitted to take part in your appeal. Where this prevents a quorum, additional people (usually Project Co-ordinators, but potentially Project Advisors) will take part in the process instead.

If you would like to make any suggestions about how TeenHelp is run, please submit them to the appropriate site area (Suggestions).
