![]() That got your attention. Can anyone give me any tips on being a zombie? My two friends and I already decided to stay up late the night before and not bother brushing our hair or anything the next morning. But what else? Groaning for brains?

Okay so, as someone who's been in a few zombie movies before, I can tell you it's pretty easy. Unless they told you what to wear, I'd recommend clothes you DON'T mind ruining, cause they'll be useless after this. Either they'll tear up and put blood on you, or you'll be asked to do it yourself. It depends on what zombie movie you're in, ext. I'd also recommend wearing some layers, or dressed appropriately for the weather. Unless you know for a fact you'll be inside the entire time, one time I was at a shoot and it rained all morning, was freezing cold, ext. So while it's important to look the part, you gotta stay mobile as well. My fingers were frozen solid ._.
I wouldn't worry about makeup, as they'll do it for you, but I really don't recommend staying up all night, unless you're really that horrible of an actor. You actually legitly want to be really awake unless you want the day to suck. Especially if a lot of your scenes are outside, or in a crappy inside place, lots of noises, ext. You don't need to look like a zombie to be honest, they will most definitely have makeup there, at the very least. If not, lemme know. I'm a beast at zombie make up If you're worried they won't or something, you can pull it off with probably stuff you have at home or at a store, though I'd recommend real costume make up ![]() So now, you've got to start practicing the zombie walk. It depends on your movie, whether or not you'll be a new age, Dawn of the Dead type zombie, that involves running, or an old school, wandering moaning zombie. (same goes with what you say. Old style zombies would moan and say brains, while new age zombies are much scarier, usually don't talk at all, growl, scream, ext. HAVE WATER!!) Either way, you've got to perfect the whole, one leg is busted, I have no useful arms, dead gazeext. This is tricky, I saw one kid try the whole crooked ankle thing once and he seriously got hurt. So, Be careful. DON'T try that, it's special effects. ._. What I usually do for walking ones is just drag one leg behind me, have crooked shoulders, leave your mouth awkwardly open for moaning or whatevers, and practice that dead gazed look ahead of you. Most of all, do NOT look at the camera My first time acting I accidentally did so, simply because there was a lot of stuff going on behind it and it was so interesting So focus on something near it, but most definitely not at it. Unless they ask you to of course ![]() All in all it kind of depends on what sort of movie you're in. The biggest one I was in with Cody (TheNumber42) was kind of a comedy, rip off of other zombie movies So I got to eat clowns, ext. Good luck Sorry this was so long, I'm sort of a zombie fanatic.
![]() Take me seriously. I dare you. |

Thanks for all the advice, Marissa. But I'm going to a casting, I don't know if I'll be IN the movie yet. ![]() But I'll be sure to go through all of this with my friends and we can go wild and freak out the parents by moaning and half walking.

I actually do have some advice for you.
![]() I was in the Resident Evil Extinction as a zombie extra, they came here where I live to film some parts of the movie and it was the best time every here is some video someone posted, we weren't allowed to bring any cameras or anything I don't know how he got it inside. They provide you with clothes and makeup. My friends and me were just making weird noises and being silly. In the video you can see how to walk and act. Good luck.
Everyone is born right-handed. Only the greatest overcome it. |
