Red face Hehe. - July 26th 2011, 06:57 PM

I'm terrified of sleeping in my room alone.

It scares the hell out of me. My room is quite dark. I can't sleep in it unless it's storming or raining don't ask me why. I think it has something to do with the fact that demons and monsters can't fly in rainstorms...? Lol.

But anyway, I usually sleep on the couch or something, but I don't get nearly enough rest. So, does anyone have ideas on how I can learn to sleep in my own room? Otherwise I just as well lay claim to the living room, lol.

It takes a long time to grow an old friend.

You could try getting a nightlight. If anyone questions it you can also just say that it's to see in the dark when you have to get up and go to the bathroom or something.
I totally understand how you feel. xD My room also gets pretty dark and when I don't have any light it scares the bajeebers out of me.

Maybe try sleeping with the radio or tv oin so you can hear other voices so you feel like your not alone?

Get a fan and just leave it on in the corner. I'm just like you. Also consider using an audiobook.

The keyword here is called "White noise". Try this site - http://www.simplynoise.com/

My personal favourite is to just leave this on quite quietly on my laptop next to the bed - http://rainymood.com

I thought about you for the rest of the day.
Catching my head turning to find you again.
I hated myself for it.

Hi.
I can be a bit like this sometimes. I find leaving my bedroom door open slightly and the bathroom light on helps. I sleep directly across from the bathroom, so I get a little bit of light...I tell everyone its so I can see when I get up in the night to use the loo. Which works pretty well cos I have bad eyesight anyway!

Another idea is to leave your phone by your bed, charging, so then it provides light and also a sense of comfort because you know you can get a hold of someone if you need them. It's what I do..not because I'm scared of the dark necessarily, but because I despise being alone.

I get scared sometimes and then I sleep with the light on. I've also found that a tidier room can help because when it's messy I get scared of the shadows.

I have to fall asleep with my TV on because I start imaging things in the dark, I just turn the sleep mode on like 30minutes and it turns itself off. I don't know if you have a TV in your room and if you do that it has a sleep mode but that helps me. If you don't have a TV you could always get a nightlight and tell people its so you can see if you need to get up to go to the bathroom.

I have this problem when my dog has to sleep anywhere besides my bed! Even if he is just in his kennel next to the bed. I would rather have his 100 degree body next to me on my bed on a hot night than try to sleep without him there When it is absolutely necessary for other reasons though I like to wrap myself up really tight in my covers and fall asleep to a movie or music.

I used to be extremely scared of the dark...I used a nightlight for yearsss. Then one night I just forgot to turn it on, and realised when I woke up that I didn't need it anymore! So I can recommend getting one of those. Also like someone else said, having a radio on is a good idea...especially if you can find some kind of late night talk segment where some person's just chatting away on the radio. It's weirdly comforting :P
