Industrial Piercing - August 9th 2011, 02:51 PM

I might be getting my industrial piercing done this Friday. I'm super excited but also a little nervous. I've heard from people that it didn't hurt but then some say it did, all say it's worth it though. So if you have it done what's your opinion?

I'm just nervous about how much it'll hurt, it's my first cartilage piercing. I have my ears pierced twice on the lobes. I once pierced my own belly button with a safety pen, it took a long time to get through, bled and hurt; hopefully this'll give you an idea of my pain tolerance.

Thanks!

A moderator will probably move this to the piercing and tattoos section, just so you know.

But, as far as I know getting your belly button pierced doesn't hurt that much, so we'll see. Then again you probably shouldn't have done it with a safety pin... Either way, I got three piercings in my cartilage and it didn't hurt that much at all. Just a strong push and a pinch, and it was over. Sort of still hurts if someone hits it or if I accidentally sleep on it all night, but not too bad.

Also got some kid in my class that said his Industrial piercing hurt so bad he almost cried. Then again, he's also a huge baby.

I'm under the slight impression that cartilage piercings are slightly different than industrial piercings, it might be the straight bar that hurts, or the other half of the piercing that hurts, the part closer to the helix part of the ear. Either way, everyone's pain tolerance is different. You really won't know how much it hurts until you just get it done.

Might I also ask where you plan on getting it done? Far too many people think they can just go over to Claires and get it done the same way they got their lobes done... Really. really bad idea.

Take me seriously.
I dare you.

I didn't even see there was a section for that. to the moderator, I'm sorry.

I'm going to a place called "Big Daddy Cadillac". It's a professional piercing and tattoo place. I heard it's the second piercing that hurts the worse because all the blood has rushed up to the ear, I've also heard it's hard to clean. Lol about your classmate, it's so quick I don't see a need for crying. I heard it's about 2 seconds of pain each when you getit done and it's sore for months after.

Re: Industrial Piercing - August 9th 2011, 04:17 PM

That's pretty much true, piercings are so quick and easy to get it over with. I got three done at one time, and was in and out in less than a few minutes. Most of that time was spent cleaning and opening new equipment. I only asked about where because getting it done with a gun is really dangerous for your cartilage, it can shatter it all. Old fashioned needles are so much better.

It is sore for a bit after, but nothing so unbearable. Definitely not as bad as the actual piercing, might cause a headache but it's really not the end of the world I was able to go home right afterward and continue on having a good day after all!

As for cleaning, I wouldn't say it's that hard to keep clean either, just got to do it. It's a bit awkward, but I just make sure I lather it up well with soap whenever I'm in the shower, no big deal

it'll definitely be worth it.

Is soap good for a fresh piercing? I've watched tons of videos on YouTube, it doesn't seem bad at all. I think this place will use a hallow 14 g(?) Needle, the type they use for belly button piercings. There's so many more painful things in life, a piercing is hopefully no big.

I got (an almost) industrial piercing. This picture will help:

My pain tolerance is average and it did hurt, but not as much as these 3 did:

I hope that gives you some idea of what it's like, i.e. it's not the worst piercing ever.

The biggest problem for me was that it took forever to heal. I would suggest you replace the metal bars with bioplast/bioflex ones (they have some nice ones HERE), as they facilitate quicker healing.

For cleaning, I was told to use contact lense cleaning solution (sterile saline) - I decanted it into a spray bottle for easy application - and this seemed to do the trick as my piercings stayed clean and infection free.

(For the record, I have none of these "unusual" piercings now, just one hole in each lobe and both tragus.)

Re: Industrial Piercing - August 13th 2011, 12:27 PM

I got it done and I LOVE it. It was done in less than 2 minutes (the piercing, not prep) and it didn't hurt all that bad. The first was only a pinch and the second one hurt a little and was a little freaky. It went through and I heard a *pop*, the second one took a second or so longer too. There was tugging also. Overall I give it a 3/10 on the pain scale, the most painful part for me was when she put in the jewelry.

It's swollen and hurts like a ***** when it gets bumped. Last night I was hanging out with some friends and it got hit a few times, I let out a big scream and clenched my fists, it hurt pretty bad. This morning I cleaned it and there was some blood, I felt sick and nearly passed out. O.O I can't sleep on it so I get a little sore at night and it is bruised a little. I iced it last night and fell asleep with the ice on my head, it felt so good. For the whole day yesterday it was just warm and tingly, it was bearable.

I recommend getting this piercing, it's not that much pain and it's cute. My dad who was dead set against it actually said it was "okay".

I was told it'll be sore for the next couple of weeks and in as early as 6 weeks I can change the jewelry.

It'll take 2-3 months (for most, it can be longer, it just depends) to heal. Now on the road to recovery I go!
