I hate my voice. -
December 20th 2011, 12:49 PM
I HATE it. I was thinking of making Pokemon "Let's Play"s for youtube and I just recorded some of it and I realise just how much I hate my voice. It was painful listening back. I think this is one of the reasons why I get anxious talking on the phone :/ It's deep and my accent is quite thick. I re-recorded myself talking more clearly and it's a little bit better but I still hate my voice
Does anyone else feel the same? :/ If you have felt the same how have you changed the way you talk? ![]() |

Haha, I slur my words a lot, I know exactly how you feel. I can't stand hearing a recording of myself.
I know the way you hear yourself isn't exactly how it really is, but a recorded version of yourself isn't perfect either, at least I don't think so. Anyone I talk to on the phone tells me it doesn't sound like me at all. My friend on Xbox thought it wasn't actually me talking to him because I apparently sounded so different. I guess it doesn't pick up every aspect of my voice or something. I'm sure it's the same for you. I have no idea if this is true or not, but it at least gives me a glimmer of hope that I don't actually sound like that in real life .

In my head I sound different
It's my family, women in my family just have a deep voice. I've wanted to make an LP for a while and it's just annoying that I have this against me Thanks anyway Maybe other people wouldn't find my voice too annoying

I feel the exact same way. I talk like I'm congested (which I always am) and I talk with my talk. I think it's HORRIBLE!

I hate the way I talk as well. I even heard from my husband after he admitted to me when we met and talked on the phone I sounded like an old lady (yikes! I'm 25 not 70), and I've always had a beet of a speech problem with a slur with my s. So I don't like talking in general. It does make me feel very sub concious about myself.

I find my accent does not in any way represent me.
"I bought this gift fur my brother." I always say "Fur" or "Fer" instead of "For" and it makes me sound like a hick. I say "Unthaw" instead of grammatically correct "Thaw", andI have a multitude of other verbal habits that annoy me. Realize this, your voice may sound grating to you, but to others it sounds perfectly normal. Talking more slowly and calmly can rid you of verbal habits, but it's incredibly tough to master. I recomend finding a monologue online, and trying to read it without an accent, knowing exactly word per word what you're going to say is a great way to surpress verbal habits, until you get good enough that you can talk "normally". A lot of people say I sound like my mom, because she has a pretty deep voice... :/ Realize that one, you cannot change how you sound completely, and can only supress an accent, and two your voice may very well change with age, seeing as how you are only twenty. - Justin ![]() |

I actually kinda like my voice
no idea why it's pretty normal. But when I talk on the phone or record it something happens that makes it sound different and I end up sounding like a very young child

Yeah, I can't stand mine either. I talk like a nerd. I pronounce word like wurd amongst other things and oh my god it's just dreadful.
You're not the only one with a less than attractive voice. It's also very deep compared to other girls my age. Sigh.
"Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it." |

I hate my voice... I can't prononce words begining 'al' properly and I have such a monotone and baby-ish but boring voice. Reading allowed is painful. We have to make video recordings for ICT of our voices and I literally just focus as hard as I can to lighten my voice.

I hate mine, I think it sounds stupid. But I've kind of learnt to deal with it, like other people don't find it stupid so I'm just gonna talk and it's not going to stop me doing things I want to.

I don't hate my voice (although I hated it before it broke) but I do hate my speech problems. I can't pronounce my "th's", a few other sounds, I mispronounce words, I stutter after every few words, I speak far too fast. I have to take my time and speak very slowly to get across what I really want to, which has the added bonus of making me sound intelligent
I thought about you for the rest of the day. Catching my head turning to find you again. I hated myself for it. |

When I was younger, I disliked my voice because I have an accent and everyone asks me about it. It's a mix of British, upper New York, etc. However, I embraced it and I love it now. I wouldn't want to change it. I don't really mind anymore when someone asks me where I'm from.

I hate my voice! I'm always very monotone unless I'm excited or thinking about the way I'm talking. People make fun of me for it all the time.

I used to always think my voice didn't sound feminine enough, but I've grown to like it
I think really high-pitched voices get annoying anyway I also have a bit of a Canadian accent which people love to point out, but honestly I don't mind talking a little different.![]() Buddy|Live Help Operator|HelpLink Mentor|Social Networking Team Relationships&Dating Mod|Lifestyle Mod|Media&Entertainment Mod Performance Committee |
