Hello everybody,

It is with sadness I am writing to inform you that Elle (losing touch.) passed away in December as a result of ongoing health issues she was experiencing. Elle was an active user on TeenHelp for a number of years and I know that many of you here were close with her. While I'm sure this may come as a shock to some of you, please use the wide variety of resources available on TeenHelp to receive support if necessary. I'm sure all of our thoughts are with her family and friends during this difficult time.

Although I never spoke to Elle very much, I'm so sad to hear the news. I saw her around the forums a bit and she looked like such a lovely member of the site and world in general. It's such a tragedy that she's gone now, but now she wont be in pain or discomfort.

Elle was one of the first people I started talking to when I came to TH. I wouldn't say we were necessarily close, but she was a friend and I always admired her for going through what she had. I remember having this one particular conversation with her when I said I couldn't imagine how difficult it would be to have cancer, or any illness of such severity. She said she couldn't imagine how difficult it would be to have depression. I learned from that that she was a very strong person, and though her illness was severe she still had sympathy for others and was truly someone to admire. Though to some it may look like she lost the battle to her illness, I think she won in so many ways. She will definitely be missed. </3

I never really talked to Elle very much either, but I have definitely seen her around, and she seemed like such an amazing person. I am sorry to see her go, my thoughts go out to her family.

I first became friends with Elle a couple of years ago after meeting her over TH. There aren't really any words I can use to describe how wonderful she was. She will definitely be missed by many. ♥

It's terrible, she was definitely a close friend to me, specially about 2 years ago, then we drifted. All the skyping and her video diaries she made are now distant memories, that I will remember for years to come. Such a gorgeous girl. <3

Elle was an amazing person. I remember when we first spoke on TeenHelp... I wanted to know why she wasn't a staff member, because her advice was top notch! I thought she was incredibly brave for tackling her medical problems in the way that she did. She never let her illness stop her from helping other on this website. I am going to miss her positive attitude and words of wisdom. Her life was far too short, but it was a good life, and I hope her journey will inspire many people in this community to make the most of the time they have.

This shocked me when I was first told. We never talked but I saw her around so often and she was obviously such a strong and positive energy around the site.

I went to her Tumblr and her TH profile. Her last activity on both sites were on October 29th, 2011.

October 29, 2011 . . . she probably entered critical condition since that day or the day after. It was probably cleared to her, then, that she wasn't going to make it.

i'm in so much pain at the moment. I'm on morphine but the dose isn't high enough and it's only taking the edge off it. Difficult to get anything sorted on a weekend so suffering until monday. greaaat.

can't get comfortable at all. tried sitting up, lying down, lying on my side, lying flat, aarrghhh. just want to be out of pain.

Morphine . . . I've volunteer in a hospital before; I've also witness how much suffering my grandma went through in first person. While it was still a low dose then, for the doctor to prescribe morphine, I can only imagine the excruciating pain she had had to endure.

I really don't know what to say. I'm neither the emotional type nor am I close to her, but somehow I keep feeling a sense of unfairness for her death. She's just 19. She has just lived one-fourth of an average person's life. And 4 of these years involved fighting a losing battle with cancer. I truly hope that she had had much fun in the short time that she had . . . and that she had little regrets at her last breaths.

And my warmest wish to her family and friends, too, for after all, sorrow is not of the dead; sorrow is the burden of those who are left behind. I remember Elle oftentimes noted that she and her mother are very close. I wonder whether her mom has gotten over her daughter's death yet.

Death is always such a sad thing. Even when you only know the person via internet. But the thing is, we become so close to people here and we get so used to seeing them daily.. that it really is no different than real life.

This just breaks my heart. I've seen her around for years. Never was particularly close to her. But I did admire her to no end. Her advice was always so great. And she seemed like such a beautiful person. My heart truly goes out to her and her family. What her family is going through is probably very painful, and seemingly unbearable.

I've had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful young lady. I feel so lucky, her smile will always shine, just like the photo I took of her in front of the London Eye.

I have to admit, I've been struggling since I found out. I think I was the first person from TH to find out, and had the job of telling others...

I miss her so much. It doesn't seem fair, she was the most wonderful person you'd ever know. So positive and strong. She was so determined to beat this... But at least she is in no more pain. She died at home with the ones she loved.

This is such a shock, and is so sad.

I never really got a chance to really know her, but I talked to her a few times. And she was just an amazing girl, she gave me so much hope because of how much she was fighting. I remember when she was cancer free for a little while, and just how amazing that news was, and then later finding out she had relapsed. It was hard, but she was so strong.

I just can't believe it, it seems like just yesterday she was here.

This really is shocking. I remember that Elle was one of the first people to greet me on here when I first joined, back when she was a Buddy. I never got to know her on a personal level, but I know she was always extremely active on the forums, so it'll be strange not seeing her around anymore. I didn't even know she'd been ill.

I've seen a few Teenhelpers pass away now, sadly, but it's never any less of a shock when it happens. Like many on here, I never got the opportunity to speak to Elle but certainly admired what she did from afar, and I can only echo what has been said about how amazing she was. It pains me to think I didn't even realise she was ill, but also perhaps that shows how strong she really was to keep being as committed a member as she was in spite of it. Right now, my thoughts and prayers are with her and her family and friends.
