There's a fine line... - February 2nd 2012, 02:25 PM

Between fear and hatred. What's your definition of those two words? How are they the same? How are they different?

Do you have any fear? Do you let it control you? Why or why not?
How about hatred? Do you let it control you? Why or why not?

I know I've left, but I was typing in another thread (also mine) and I was debating between "fear" and "hatred". I couldn't decide what my anti-lesbian phase was. Was it me being in fear of lesbians or having hatred of them? I still don't know.

I think fear is the root of hatred.
To truly hate anything, a part of you has to be afraid of it.
I don't hate anyone (meaning any person).
I do, however, fear certain types of people.
Just because you fear something/one, doesn't mean it is hate.
But if you hate anything/one, there is definitely fear rooted there.

Most fear stems from a bad experience, feeling, or notion about something.
Fear can lead to hatred easily, if you have had a bad experience that left
you hurt, confused, or angry.

That's my opinion.

Fear to me is something that gives you that horrible gut feeling that something horrible is going to happen. I have fear of life after death and I try not to let it run my life.
Hatred to me is almost the same as fear. You have that feeling in your stomach still.. but its not an unknown feeling, it's more like a sick angry one. I have hatred for cheaters. I never really thought about it until I got cheated on and after that I just get so angry when I hear about cheaters.. pretty much treat them as a lesser if I know they are one.

Is there a specific context to this, or are you just talking "in general"?
