What the fuck is the point? - February 15th 2014, 05:38 PM

So I applied to be staff for the second time and yet again they have denied me. Saying oh don't let this discourage you in applying again. And one of are staff would like to work with you over the next month to get you ready to be staff? Seriously what the fuck is the point of having someone help me when you obviously do not want me on staff. My grammar and spell was all checked and it was fine. I fucking answered the question the way I get answers. So honestly I don't fucking see the problem besides the fact that you obviously don't want me on ducking staff. You should just fucking come out and say we don't want you on staff instead of fucking stringing someone along.

Hey Frankie,

I'm sorry you've been declined for a position on Staff; I know it's discouraging (I think nearly every member of Staff on the site has probably had an application denied at some point or another).
Although I'm not a member of the Talent Committee, and therefore cannot comment specifically on why your application may or may not have been declined, I can assure you that no-one on TeenHelp holds anything against you. The application process is just as rigorous for everyone else as for you.

I'd have to remark that, whilst it's understandably very frustrating to be declined, that an offer has been made to give you assistance is definitely a sign that you've got potential to be on Staff.
Another thing I'd ask you to note is that the application form is absolutely not the only thing that the Talent Committee look at when you apply for Staff, particularly a primary role (although I'm not downgrading the importance of being thorough and grammatically vigilant when applying). Again, not being the Talent Committee, I don't know exactly what things are looked at, but at a guess I'd suggest that some of the things they might look at could be quality of advice, general site activity, activity related to the position you've applied for (eg. being in chat and being friendly towards new users, reaching out and making friends, if you're applying for Buddy; time in chat, attendance of FCRDs, etc. if you're applying for Chat Mentor), long-standing conduct and other general considerations.

Please, though, try not to be too disheartened. If a member of the Talent Committee doesn't get in contact with you soon, which may be the case, Robin (PSY), our Volunteering Officer, is around to give advice and tips for development and improving your chance of getting onto Staff (as are other members of the Talent Committee). I really do know that it's upsetting and frustrating, but trust me - no-one dislikes you, or is prejudiced against your application. The Talent Committee, and all Staff members, want you to succeed as a Staff member if you become one, and I'm sure that if you ask for it, TC will be more than willing to give you some support in applying.

It's really great that you want to be on Staff, and I really do hope that you don't give up on your ambition. From personal experience, it's a fantastic thing to do, and with a bit of patience and dedication, I'm sure you could get to a stage where your application would be accepted.
