Question Why Me?! - March 29th 2017, 02:57 AM

Just like every single other year around spring time I feel terrible. I keep coughing, I keep sneezing, I can't breathe through my nose right since it's way too stiffed no matter how many times I've blowed it, my throat hurts, my eyes feel watery, and I feel more tired then usually. Ever since I started to go to kindergarten this has kept happening. I didn't go outside a lot before kindergarten since there was nothing to do outside by myself. But the year I started to go this started. My mom bought some allergry pills but those didn't work and it's getting worse. I hate missing school and I don't want to miss a day or two because of this. I have to do a presentation on a great leader in a few days with my friend in front of the whole class and I don't want to be standing up there sneezing and coughing and sniffling every minute. Is there anything I can do to get better in a few days?

Hi there,

Oh the joys of springtime..

I have allergies all year round, and they get worse in spring and summer.

I currently have a sinus infection, so I have some of the same symptoms as you do.

How long have you been taking the allergy pills for? Sometimes you need to take them for several days (1-2 weeks) for them to start working. Also, is this the same kind of allergy meds that you take every allergy season?

I normally use Allegra-D. It has a decongestant in it which helps unplug your nasal passage. Also, you should consider getting a nose spray. It will help keep your nasal passage clear. I usually have to go through a couple different types of allergy pills to find the one that works for me. I'm pretty sure this summer that my go to will stop working for me.

It's weird how allergy meds work.. or don't work?

If you're still not getting any relief, definitely talk to your doctor in case there's something else happening.

I hope you get some relief soon! I know how hard it is when you can't breathe right through your nose!

Take care,
Brittany
