Bad week. - July 20th 2020, 04:04 AM

So last week was a bad one due to my mental health. There has been a recent outbreak of COVID-19 in my local area - to the point where there has been positive cases 10 minutes from where I live. This is the first time it's been this bad in my area since the start of the pandemic. I am lucky and grateful that it's only happening now and the number of cases isn't as high as in other countries. But I'm still worried due to the fact that I can't work from home and I am in close contact everyday with my parents who are than in contact with my grandma. Last week, I actually broke down at work and that hasn't happened in a very long time. I was just so overwhelmed and stressed with everything that's going on at the moment. COVID-19. My career. Moving out soon. Studying. I'm grateful that I still have a job but I would love to be able to have a salary whereby I'll be able to live comfortable working one job and not two. I just don't know what to do.

Hello,

I am so sorry that you are having a hard time with this right now and hope that you will be alright soon.

When you are having people who are getting sick and they are not too far away, this is hard to be okay with. We are not sure if it will keep coming or will it stop. When you are going out try to stay a little bit away from everyone if you can. Try not to think about getting sick when you first go out or when you see other people. Just try to focus on what you have to do.

When you are seeing your parents, try your best not thinking that they will get sick so much. I know it is hard when we are always worrying about them. Wash your hands, try not to touch your face, because when you are out in public we are touching so many different things that now our hands are not clean and that is a way people are getting sick when they rub or touching your face.

I'm sorry that you are not able to work from home, it all depends on what we do and some people can work from home and others you can't. You have to go to where you work everyday. That can be hard for the kind of job you do and with all of this crazy stuff happening. Try to stay calm when you are going to work, so that you can try to force on that. Also see if you can talk to the other people who you are working with and when you come home try finding something to get your mind off of this for a while. Going for a walk or putting on music or funny TV shows or movies or reading or drawing or something else that you enjoy doing. I hope that you will be okay soon.

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply.

I'm just stressed due to working with children and working at a pub where I come in contact with the public.
