Sick of feeling this way.

I'm sick of feeling like I need to compare myself to people. Like I need to do certain things. I feel I'm not good enough (I know I'm not.) My current relationship is going downhill, it's worse than a rollercoaster. One second we're fine then the next, I just feel "urgh, I wanna be single for the rest of my life." I was alone for a year and I'm suddenly in this relationship (I have been for 4 months and it has been amazing) but I feel I'm being constantly compared to her ex (they'll both see this too) and there's no trust. I just wish I could be in a relationship where I feel wanted and stuff, not when I'm battling agaisnt the ex to be the better one. I keep crying, it's awful. And so near my birthday too. I don't wanna be here anymore.

You said at the start that you were happy you could be yourself and you should be. You're not battling against anyone to be the better one because you are the best. Just because the ex came along and made things hard for a while doesn't mean your going to be compared to them at that point or anytime before or after because they are nothing compared to you and why would someone be in a relationship with someone new if they're going to do that? You get into a relationship with someone because you love that person, not because you want them to be someone else.

I know for a fact that your birthday will be amazing as well, no matter what goes off because it's your 18th, the big one eight and even if I'm not there, I'll make sure somehow that you enjoy it and I know that you do want to be here because everyone has rough patches but they get better, I've been saying that to you for ages now and it's got to have some true at some point.

The ex didn't just "come along", It opened my eyes to the sort of things I've gotta put up with. This is turning out to be just like my last relationship, it was hell but I stuck to it even though it made me unhappy.

They weren't there from day one though. And you don't have to put up with anything and you don't have to be unhappy, no-one is making you and there is always something you can do about it whether it's good or bad.

so? It wasn't just them. It was you too, you lied. But I can't leave you because I'm in love with you, but this thread isn't about that. It's the fact I'm feeling so low & it's getting worse.

I'm not making it about that, if you want to talk about that there is other ways, I'm just trying to help.

Things are bad now but they'll get better and they'll look up because life is what you make it and your in control of it. If you're feeling low then do something about it, do something to cheer yourself up so it doesn't get worse.
