late notice - August 24th 2010, 09:23 AM

So I took today off work. I left it ages because I kept telling myself I'd be okay. I really wanted to go in because I hate letting them down, and it feels like I'm letting myself down too, which is just shit. Anyway, my boss told me off because it was such 'late notice'. I know thats fair enough but blehhh. It was only so late notice because I was trying to force myself to feel better.

I feel like shit. I'm sure being ill isn't helping mind. Its bugging me more then it should

Sorry to hear you're not feeling very well and hope you recover soon. I hate taking time off work as well so just try force myself to go in even if I don't want to. Sometimes being at work distracts you in some way and can make you feel better.

You're allowed to feel ill, it's not your fault and when you don't feel well you deserve to relax and take care of yourself just as much as anyone else.

Don't feel bad about your boss shouting at you, the fact is you did everything you could to try and get better and not let them down. It's not exactly fair they don't appreciate that or understand, but the fact still remains, you thought about them and you should be proud of your dedication to others and your job.

You haven't let anyone down, you definitely haven't let yourself down. You're an awesome person. You're ill, it happens to everyone. Relax and take care of yourself and don't worry about anything else. Hope you'll be ok, get well soon!

To be honest I do get your boss's point. With you calling in so late, it made it harder for them to get someone in to cover you. I know you wanted to get better but phoning earlier would have been better.

apologise to your boss and explain that you were hoping you'd be feeling better and up to coming in? i'm sure he/she will let it go so long as this isn't a recurring thing.

Everyone need's some time off. Even if it wasn't convenient for your boss. Apologize later, and explain how you were sorry you put it off. He/She should understand everyone needs time off. Yours was just sudden. All there is too it. Don't get yourself down. =)

I'll do whatever it takes to be the mistake you can't live without.

For me, I know that I can not care of others unless I take care of myself. So I think I understand. I hope you are okay.
