Bad choice.

About a week ago SWIM spent a considerable amount of money at a retail store. One product was defective and he attempted to bring it back the next day for an even exchange, with receipt. The staff acknowledged the product was defective but refused to issue a return, in clear violation of their return policy. SWIM grabbed an identical product and left the store amidst protests from employees. He was followed but likely escaped without giving away license plate, ID, etc. SWIM does not anticipate charges being pressed but feels bad for causing a scene. He wishes he had spoken to a store manager instead of a dept. manager and filed suit if necessary. What should he do?

SWIM acted pretty childish but let's not get into that.

SWIM can either go back to the store & explain everything or continue on probably never going there or near any of their employees again.
