Awful Day - December 7th 2011, 03:02 AM

So I made a post in Education and Careers about how I just got a new job..

well i'm three weeks into it and keep messing up pretty badly! It was really busy at our restaurant today and i'm the only hostess on so I start stressing out. I give servers too many people at once..seat people where they're not supposed to be seated..ect..Three servers got mad at me..I can't really blame them.

I'm working tomorrow too and im really nervous and scared. The waiters/waitresses wouldn't be mean to me in person but I would bet they're talking about me behind my back and how awful I am.

So now I think my reputation is gone at this new job..im going to be forever disliked because im the quiet new girl that no one knows that keeps messing things up.

If I keep this up (hope its not too late) i'll probably get fired.

I need to step up my game for tomorrow and try to redeem myself a little. I hope to god it's not as busy as it was today. I just wish I could disappear and never go back to that place but I need the money badly.

Some words of encouragement?

We learn from our mistakes. Keep trying, you'll get the hang of it. You're still new so it's forgiveable, and besides its okay to make mistakes.

You gotta face the clouds
To find the silver lining

what you should try to do, as crazy as it sounds, practice at home. pretend that you are at work and it is "busy." you have a lot of ppl. try to remember the seats and everything like that. it may seem odd but i found it to help. and when u go to work make sure u are in a good mind set, dont go in thinking you will screw up, go in thinking you will do better

Oh yes, the past can hurt. But, you can either run from it or, learn from it

Thank you! I kept a positive attitude and the day went better then expected. Made one mistake..but that's a lot better then yesterday! Hopefully I'll just keep getting better.

I agree with the above comments. Alos as far as seating goes, make sure your clear on what waitress does what tables. If you know seating like the back of your hand, I think that your job will go alot smoother. Hey, A job is a job now adays! Since you have a job, might as well be an expert at it, right?

I hope that it starts to improves alittle bit!

Best wishes,
Chris

They wouldn't take you on without expecting something like this in the first place. So I think you're not as badly off as you think.

If you've got some spare time, read this:

But don't if you're easily triggered. If you're not easily triggered then go ahead.
