Cheap but fun summer vacations? - April 4th 2009, 02:12 AM

I was just wondering if anyone could come up with any fun summer vacation ideas that wouldn't empty my wallet. My family and I were going to go out west this summer in the US, but its too expensive, so we're looking for other options.

I'm seriously considering Nova Scotia or somewhere in Canada because it's really close and I hear its beautiful...

or maybe there are better ideas?

How cheap are we talkin'? Where are you from?

Searching my heart for its true sorrow,
This is the thing I find it to be:
That I am weary of words and people,
Sick of the city, wanting the sea;

Wanting the sticky, salty sweetness
Of the strong wind and shattered spray;
Wanting the loud sound and the soft sound
Of the big surf that breaks all day.

I'm from New England, and a trip preferably under 800 dollars haha.

Check out tourist spots in your own state! I bet there's a lot of cool stuff around that you didn't know about. I do that all the time. Many, many one day vacations.

Camping with friends is one of the cheapest and most fun holidays I've ever had, I recommend you try it xD

I agree with Lou--camping is fun! How close to NYC are you? A day trip there would be fun, but overnight may get too expensive.
