Texting the WRONG Person!

I don't think I've ever seen a thread about this on TH, but I KNOW I can't be the only person who's done this.

So, have you done it? And has it ever turned out to be disastrous?

oh yes.

i was talking about this guy to my best friend. and i accidentally texted it to him. i guess i was thinking of his name at the time so i pressed it. SO embarrassing. we'd hooked up the day before and i was basically telling my friend all about it and yeah.. just one of those i want the ground to swallow me moments. this was when i was 15. he laughed it off luckily.. i signed into msn and he was like 'haha, that wasn't meant for me was it?'

and another time.. i BBM'd (i guess that counts?) my dad instead of my friend. it was about some guy (recurring theme..) but luckily it wasn't anything too embarrassing. just saying he was hot or something, don't even remember cos it was years ago.

Hmmm, I can't remember if I've ever texted the wrong person, but I've thought someone else was on the phone who wasn't. My sister answered the phone and handed it to me. She told me that my aunt was on my phone, so I went on a rampage apologizing for not calling to wish her happy birthday. I had planned to see her on her birthday, but that didn't happen.

As it turned out, it was not my aunt on the phone. It was my godmother calling to wish me happy birthday.

I've also MSNed the wrong person, the person who I was gossiping about.

I was thinking about this, because it just happened to me last night

I was at the bowling alley with my boyfriend, and some asshole got mad at me because my shoes were wet (um, heloooo? it's snowy outside). I meant to text my friend about how people were getting mad at me because of my shoes being wet, and definitely sent it to my boyfriend... It's not TOO bad, but I kind of felt like an idiot because it made me look like a whiny little b*tch.

but also I used to have a Kitty and a Katty in my phone, and used to text Kitty about work stuff because Katty was my coworker xD

Lol, it keeps happening all the time. Recently it happened about two weeks ago when I got my results. I was in class and I meant to text my sister to tell my mom (who never reads her own texts) that I passed and being the lazy ass I am, I decided to type in her number rather than search for her in my contacts. But the thing is that while typing in a hurry I always forget that her number starts with a 99 and NOT a 98 and that's exactly what I typed. So the message went to the wrong person and a couple minutes later he called but I realized my mistake and cut the phone off without answering. And this is sadly not the first time that guy has got a message or a call from me either. Lol.

I needed to rant to a friend about someone once, meant to send the text to him.. sent it to the person I was ranting about by mistake. Such a bad situation.

Life would be so much easier if there was an 'unsend' button on cell phones

As for me, things like that don't happen anymore because I have the option to cancel the message for a bit.

Yeah, I have but the worst time was when I almost sent it to the wrong person when I was waiting for a friend and she was late so I went to send a text to my other friend to complain about her but almost sent it to her instead due to the fact I was thinking about her. Luckily she turned up which distracted me so when I looked back at my phone, I realised.

My best friend is so used to me texting him instead of my boyfriend and being like, "I love you sooooo much!" "You're so amazing <3" and really affectionate stuff irrelevant to the conversation. But he's used to it so I'm just like, "FML, AGAIN?!"

Oh yes.. With really disastrous consequences.

My friend had been mucking me and another friend about with being late and stuff (extremely late), and she'd texted me saying that she was finally leaving now. Then I got a text 5 mins later asking if I was drinking, so it made me think "she's obviously not left yet", so I was going to send a text to my other friend saying "emma said that she's leaving but I just got a text from her so she probably hasn't"... accidentally sent it to emma... And it wasn't even a nasty text message either! But she went ballistic and really nasty and we haven't spoken since!

This happens to me a lot actually lol. It can be a bit embrassing. One time I was really made at one of my friends and I was ranting about it to another friend and accidently sent it to the friend I was mad at. That didn't turn out well.

I've also accidently texted my youth pastor asking if my friend can spend the night.

All the timee!!! I actually had quite a disastrous version of that in TH chat, I'm actually quite surprised it didn't get me kicked off staff, chat mod at least

But, one time I suppose it wasn't too bad, as it ended up getting me the help I need =]

This is something that I'm pretty paranoid about for some reason. I've never sent a text message to the wrong person but because I delete my sent messages I will then have a moment a few minutes later when I'm like "Did I send that to the right person?" and get a panic on until I get a text back.

I accidentally forwarded this rude text that this one chick sent me back to her instead of my other friend....she texted me back and was like 'What the fuck?' Very embarrasssing
