Who do you write like? -
January 28th 2011, 03:21 PM
Hello, TH. I found this cool website through a blog I read, and I thought I'd share it with you. It analyzes your writing style and tells you which of a selection of authors you most closely match. Seeing as there's quite a few aspiring writers around, I think you'll enjoy it.
http://iwl.me/ Apparently my TH posts resemble the style of Cory Doctorow, whoever that is. But my political science papers are more like HP Lovecraft. So if my tutors start looking like they've seen indescribable horrors beyond the reckoning of man, I'll know why. Who do you write like? ![]() |

So I put in one piece of my writing, and apparently, I write like Stephenie Meyer. i'm not sure if that's good or not =S
Another one came up with William Gibson... but I already knew that my style differs with every piece I write... The prologue to my novel came up with David Foster Wallace, which is odd, because the first chapter is like Chuck Palahniuk. Is it bad that of those four I've only heard of Stephanie Meyer? There's always light at the end of a tunnel, even if you have to pass a few bends to see it. ![]() Proud reciever of a glance from Kyo xD Mada tooi anataboshi |

Soooo I tried out this website to see who I would get. Hahahaha the results were amusing!
The first entry was this creative non-fiction piece I wrote and I got Gertrude Stein as a result. I never heard of her but I will definitely research her! The second result was JD Salinger xD.... and the entry that made me get that result was this creative and inspiring piece of non-fiction! Quite an interesting website indeed =P !~Mariposa~! |

Hm, I analysed a bunch of my short stories and some chapters of my novel, and it seems I consistantly write like either Arthur C Clarke or Cory Doctorow.
Appropriate in a way, even though I've never read either authors' actual works. Also, my poems are like Lovecraft. Win. xD ![]() "My one desire is for peace -- peace for everyone" |

I don't really write that much as far as stories go, but I put in a few things I've written and apparently I write like Leo Tolstoy (made my day
) And Harry Harrison.
"Life is pain, anybody that says different is selling something" ~ Fezzik's Mother, The Princess Bride. ♥ "To die, would be an awfully big adventure."~ Peter Pan "Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumoured by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it." ~ The Buddha 14-04-2010. How does no one know who Cory Doctorow is?
EDIT: I got Ernest Hemingway. Fuck yeah. "Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it." |

You don't know who James Joyce was??
My daddy works in his tower. (: I got David Foster Wallace, but that's only according to one of my blog posts, which generally differ to my fiction writing style... I'll have to check that one too.. He wrote Little Brother. He specializes in techno-geek turned modern-day superhero type stories. Yanno, the kind with the Asian girls who make the witty jokes and the nerdy guys who seem to know a whole lot about nothing but manage to save the day anyways?
...yeah. I eat that shit up.

I gave it the last short story I wrote, and it told me that I write like my crush's favorite writer, David Foster Wallace.
I laughed. "Want to know a secret?
You are beautiful. Black, white, gay, straight, bisexual. Whether you are smart or quiet or impossibly in love with your best friend, someone out there cherishes your smile and gets butterflies when you walk into a room. Someone out there can't stop thinking about you. You Are Beautiful. Don't ever believe differently." If you ever want someone to talk to, about absolutely anything, feel free to inbox me! ![]() |
