Smile Stuff you believed as a small child - April 29th 2011, 09:48 PM

So, we all have goofy things that we believed when we were little right? (Santa, Easter Bunny, etc. don't count xD)What are some of the things that you all believed. Here are a couple of mine:

Keep in mind, this was from when I was like 4 or 5 xD
1. People had babies by kissing in bed in their underwear.

2. Grease was apple juice. My dad always pour it in a cup or something and it looked like apple juice to me. I wouldn't believe my parents when they would tell me it was grease and once I asked if I could drink it.

1. Santa Claus
2. The Tooth Fairy
3. Babies are made by doctors
4. I could get to Narnia by sitting in my wardrobe and wishing really really hard. *

Mine's bad...

I used to believe my cat went to the shops with a purse around its neck to buy my birthday and xmas presents and that he wrapped them up with the help of my mum...

I also believed that my toys came alive when I wasn't there like in toy story and I used to try and sneek up and catch them

I miss the good ol' days when anything could be true..

Re: Stuff you believed as a small child - April 30th 2011, 07:58 PM

I believed my toys came to life after watching Toy Story. And at nineteen, my belongings aren't always where I left them, so I still have suspicions about it. :P

I believed in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy. A lot of my childhood died when they turned out to be not real.

For the first seven or eight years of my life I didn't know if my parents ever slept, because they always went to bed after I did and woke me up each morning. And I was a pretty calm child so I never went to their room to wake them up for something.

1.) Santa Clause, Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny, Dracula.
2.) Women gave birth to babies out their butt.
3.) Every cartoon WAS REAL.
4.) If I drew pictures of Digimon, in the morning they would be real.
5.) I could hatch the eggs out of my fridge if I sat on them.

Re: Stuff you believed as a small child - April 30th 2011, 10:48 PM

I believed in Santa in a real hardcore way, if anyone dared to say he was not true I would defend him with my life
Another thing I believed was that when I changed channel in the TV there were little people inside it and everything was live inside my TV.
I also believed that someday there was going to rain candy, I never lost hope every time it rained I thought “today was the day” but no…
I thought people had to get married every time they had a new child I thought my parents had married 3 times.
I also believed that the black hole in the middle of the swimming pools would suck you inside, I remember being really afraid of it and my older cousins would try to make me go towards it by pushing me. =/

I used to believe a lot of weird things when I was little, I can't imagine the faces of my parents when I would tell them...

I believed:

1) Santa Claus was real
2) What happened in movies were real (a cartoon or otherwise)
3) And yes, I totally believed that there were little people inside the TV!
4) Apple juice was champagne
5) Vampires were real
6) Magic could happen if you said "Abracadabra"
7) In Wee Willie Winkie...so I never was awake past 8 0' clock!

Re: Stuff you believed as a small child - May 1st 2011, 02:34 PM

-I thought my toys came to life as well. My mum told me they did.
-I believed in Santa, Easter Bunny, Toothfairy too and wrote a letter to the toothfairy once. Still waiting on a reply.
-I totally believed in Hogwarts and wrote myself an acceptance letter hoping my parents would let me go.
-I used to lay in bed at night and be able to see the top of the landing. I was scared that a Pharoh or Mummy was going to come up the stairs to get me and as long as only my head was sticking out of the covers, they'd believe I had no body and leave me alone. (we were learning about Egypt in school at this point)
-I thought that people on the TV could see me and hear me.

There are so many more bizarre things I believed in that I'm not even going to bother putting down here, they were mad! xD

- You know those inset days at school that were teacher training days? Well I thought they were really called insect days and you had to bring a bug into school
- I believed my toys came to life
- I waited on my 11th birthday for my Hogwarts letter, must have got lost in the post though

Not sure what else really xD

1. that there were monsters in my closet (my cousin's fault)
2. That money was free from the ATM (a long story that my dad still won't let me forget)
3. There was a (nice) mouse under my grandma's kitchen table that would eat my food if I didn't clean my plate

I thought babies automatically appeared when a man and woman got married.

I thought some people were stuck with their hair in a ponytail, lmao. This girl who was friends to my sister always had her hair in a ponytail and when she took it out I was amazed.

I never really believed in Santa.

-I knew every meat came from an animal at this point, so my family told me about the salami monster that lives in africa, and special breeds are only found in North America and how hard they are to catch.
-I would think that there were monsters under my bed, so I can't stick a foot hanging off the bed, and then more monsters came (they looked like the ones from Where the Wild Things Are) and they came in only when my eyes were shut. O_o
-Tooth fairy, Santa, Easter Bunny

I believed that babies came from the sky and they used to be stars...
Santa & the toothfairy obviously...
I thought babies were born by cutting into the stomach only, and that they were grown in the stomach...
I thought teachers lived at school and had no other life...
I thought all mums and dads were called the same as my mum and dad...
I believed that the dummy fairy came to take my dummy away when I was four so that she could give it to a family of birds for the babies to have...

I once tried to write a letter to the Tooth Fairy but after a week she didn't answer, and when I realised why I announced it (loudly) to my mum - "She won't answer cos I wrote it in English!!" (we lived in France). That was when my mum found out I'd written to the TF and had to write a reply letter back (in french)

When I was little (five or so?) I had to go to the doctor's for some reason. Anyway, when it was my turn, I was called out of the waiting room and taken to the doctor's office. On the way there, we passed a little row of washing machines, the kind with a glass door in the front. Anyway, little me didn't realise at the time that they were washing machines. I thought they were for keeping really sick people in, and didn't realise my mistake for a couple of years.

-that after you finish school, you went right back to the beginning and started it all over again.

-that "auntie" and "uncle" was just part of a persons name...i thought they were just my parents friends.

And the tooth fairy and Santa obviously.

I never really believed in more than santa clause and the tooth fairy.
I do remember my uncle telling me that my slippers, which looked likes bees, would sting me if I wore them. Safe to say they never went on my feet
I'm positive that there will be something worse than that, seeing as my Dad thought it would be hilarious if he told my sister a Giraffe was a Kangaroo, and vice versa. So I assume he did something similar to me, and I haven't figured it out yet xD

LOL I have a good one, there were these pens, their brand name was "Texta" and they were advertised to 'bring your pictures alive' and like these girls were drawing a dog, the dog jumped out of the picture...I honestly believed that this would happen, and I got my own set of these "Texta" pens, and to my horror, they did not produce real dogs. So I was lead to believe my drawings weren't good enough. I must have only been about 6!!!

I believed that cartoons were actually 'real' things, and that if I went to america I would see them. I also at one stage considered being able to jump into pictures - or skadoo into pictures (as in Blue's Clues) I obviously didn't try but I did think some people had the power to!

Mine is weird...

When I was very young and nursing, my mom always called breasts "titty-boom-bahs" in front of me. Don't ask me why. But for a while I thought that was actually the proper name for them.

Lets start with the basics!
Chicken nuggets were chicken!
Chinese people ate chinese food everyday!
I was invincible!
I had magic powers and could change the past!
Fate!
True love disney style!
Dragons could still exist but maybe hiding somewhere!
Aliens exist and could be people!
That just before we went to sleep we'd experience a magicial dream world instead of sleep and then forget every morning!
The moon was this awesome place!
World peace!
Best friends would last forever!
Parents never lied to me!
If your good, good things happen to you. If your bad, bad things happen.
Bad people goto court everything was black and white.
Also if i couldnt think of all the ways that i could be killed during the night the one that i missed was more likely to kill me.

PLUTO was a PLANET!

Also,
1. My toys came alive.
2. If you ate lots of a certain thing, you become it.
3. If you pull a face and the wind changes, you get stuck like it.

I had to leg it up the stairs because I was convinced a ghost would follow me up :/
If you listened closely, the sofa could talk... (not my dad in another room)
When you ordered chinese food, it was delivered from China.

Oh, and one time I was at a cinema and saw a sillohette before the movie started and all the ads were playing (obvs from someone walking in front of the projecter).
However I asked my dad,
"Is that Mulan behind the screen, getting ready?"

The moon was made of cheese.
Uneaten eggs in the fridge would hatch.

My Granny once said "It's raining cats and dogs" so I looked through the window and said "But I can't see them"

Hogwarts I thought my parents were magic (because we had a fake broom from halloween and believed this to be real) and would get a letter on my 11th birthday.
Obvs, i'm a squib

In Austrailia and NZ, you were upside down and had to wear sticky boots so you wouldn't fall off.

Mirrors were opposite land, and you could step inside them,

Unplugging the bath while still in it means you'llget sucked down the drain.
One time, I thought my sister HAD been because I couldn't find her after her bath!

Sorry for all the edits, I kept thinking of more and more.

Also

If you ate watermelon seeds they'd grow inside you.
Slugs were snails without a shell.
Fat people were just natually large with big bones! (Yet i wondered why all the skeletons were the same size)

It was possible that some thing lived underground in some ancient culture like in journey to the centre of the earth!
Time travel was impossible
The earth would hit something because it moved soo fast.
The world was huge and very few people could have gone around it.
China/Taiwan was some big factory!
We'd have flying cars by 2010!

Re: Stuff you believed as a small child - May 16th 2011, 08:33 PM

i belived in:

santa,

the tooth fairy,

the easter bunny ,

that if i jumped from the half landing in my house i could fly like peter pan (i have peter pan to blame for that),

that pets used to go to school when they went outside they would go to school and only come home when they were called home,

i belived that my toys could come alive and would always try to catch them alive,

i thought babies came from the trees in a craddle like in the nursery rhyme hush a bye baby, i then thought that babies just grew in the mums tummy when she wanted one and then her belly button was what made the baby come out.

i belived that narnia exisisted threw a wardrobe at my grandmas house it had lots of fur coats in it

i also belived that if my dad ate the core of the apple or apple pips a tree would grow in his belly and that why his belly was fat

i used to belive in a thing called the chocolate monster that i thought stole my things, when really i had just lost my things.

i belived that if i turned chairs into a sliegh shape and stuck ropes and bells onto them i could get to the north pole and visit santa.

i also belived that if i went to the woods i would find a lot of teddy bears having a pinic

i also belived that if i ate an egg i would be eating humpty dumpty as my dad told me that they because they couldnt put him back together they made into eggs and ate him so i belived that if i ate an egg i was eating humpty dumpty

i also belived there was a bear and a snake under my bed and used to run across my bedroom floor trying not to touch my floor much or touch my floor as little as possible.

i was an odd kid...

the girl who always seemed unbreakble finally
BROKE
the girl who seemed strong
CRUMBLED
the girl who always laughed
CRIED
the girl who never stopped trying finally
GAVE UP

she let her fake smile fade and as she did a tear rolled down her cheek and she whispered

' i can't do this anymore'

I did, too!

  1. I believed that my toys came to life when I left the room, just like in Toy Story.
  2. I also believed that everyone's parents where named "Mom" and "Dad".
  3. I thought that if I drew a Digimon on paper it would come to life in the morning.
  4. I thought teachers lived at school.
  5. I believed that monsters lived in my closet and if I kept the door shut they wouldn't come out.
  6. I believed tigers lived in the woods by my house and they slept under my bed at night. *Weird I know*
  7. I believed that everyone's house looked like mine on the inside, until I went to a sleepover and I was proven wrong.
