Magical powers? - October 15th 2011, 05:08 AM

Have you ever just been futzing around and realized suddenly that you may have magical powers?
The other day I bought a new toothbrush at the grocery store, and I was waving it around like a wizard 'cause that's how I roll, and I pointed it at a row of lights and they went out.
Then today, I was waiting for my mum outside and I was all "WIND POWERS ACTIVATE" and a gust blew so big I almost fell over.
Granted, both times I was alone and the few souls around me just stared like I was sporting a second head, so there's a strong possibility I'm just a madman. But that's besides the point.

Be it because of an overactive, child-like mind such as my own, or a seriously odd incident, have you ever considered the possibility that you're actually a superhero?

Oh! I also wonder often times if I'm immune to death. I've yet to die, so it's a strong possibility. I also may be immune to glaucoma and the bubonic plague.

I've had several experiences like this to be honest. I've never thought my self to be a 'superhero' but I have actually really thought about it; if the human brain only uses 10% of it then what about the other 90%? I honestly think that each and every single one of us has some type of "power" but it's just that we either keep it secret or don't notice we have it. Also another reason why a lot of people would be quiet about it is that there is a great chance that if it got out then the government would test on you.....

But anyways, your not alone in this, don't worry if you ever want to talk about it just send me a pm or vm I'm always here to talk.

When I was about 12 years old, I thought I had super-powers because I'd imitate dog barks and have my dog respond accordingly. I showed it to my folks and friends, they were amazed and I could have other dogs sometimes respond. However, once I realized others could do this, I knew it wasn't a super-power, rather I was just good at mimicking a sound. I wasn't saddened, I could do this for certain other sounds and have fun with it, such as mimicking a car trying to start up.

For the love of science, tell me you're joking.

If a government stumbled upon a real-life X-Man, I believe they would do some testing to make sure the person isn't running around in a cape because they're bonkers. Once the tests confirmed the person isn't bonkers and the government found the person's powers useful, I believe they'd provide some amazing kick-ass home and provide whatever incentives so the person would be willing to work for the government as a superhero. If a government were to just lock the superhero in a secret cage, run countless tests and replicate Dr. Mengele's "experiments" at Auschwitz, it'd be self-defeating.

I personally don't know anything about the brain so if that is wrong please forgive me, but I don't agree with you on the government, they keep more lies from us then they tell us the truth, if you believe them then that's fine. But can you honestly tell me if they met someone who could do things that weren't "normal" that they wouldn't be even the slightest be scared of us? Can you honestly tell me that they wouldn't treat us like we were trying to harm them? there is still that chance that they would and I wouldn't want to take that chance.
But I guess everyone will believe something different *shrugs*

It's folklore nonsense, I don't know why people started saying it but it's certainly wrong, however, you're forgiven.

I never said how much I believe them so you're pulling a faulty assumption from your arse.

That depends on what the ability was. If it was a person who could suck any harmful disease from someone, then I see no reason to fear that person, they're beneficial. If it's a person who had super-human strength, again, there's usefulness in that but there would be a bit more fear. If it's a person who could make things and living beings spontaneously combust, there'd be a lot of fear in that. So it depends on the particular ability.

That becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy even for people who are, "normal". If you react with violence and hostility to a police officer after being demanded to stop, they'll treat you as though you will harm others as well as them. On the other hand, if you have a super-human power and act violently to the government, the government is going to respond accordingly, so you never would know whether their initial reactions prior to your violence was peaceful or hostile.

I don't think I've ever had a real experience like that, but I know I've had dreams that came true.

Yeah, I often times find myself pondering the various capabilities of the human mind. I mean, I doubt they span THAT far, but there've gotta be some spots we're missing.

I don't wonder....I KNOW I have superpowers. I can totally fly...or at least, I can after taking my super strength sleeping pill. Anything is possible.

But, seriously. I've had a few times where coincidence has been beautiful - I clapped my hands once and the power cut out to the whole street. It was totally irrelevant of the fact that British Gas were busy digging stuff up outside

Just a hop, skip and a jump.

For a fact... I know adrenaline does strange things to me, apparently my eyes change colour, for example. They're usually kind of grey, but turn quite bright blue when I'm pissed.

Also, once I sneezed, didn't cover my mouth and a tree fell over in the distance.

If you've got some spare time, read this:

But don't if you're easily triggered. If you're not easily triggered then go ahead.
